If you’ve seen Squid Game and are familiar with certain Japanese manga, or their adaptations, then you might have noticed some similarities.
According to Wikipedia: “Around 2008, when Hwang Dong-hyuk (the creator of Squid Game) wrote the script, he spent his free time in manga cafes reading Japanese survival manga books.”
Three of the manga he mentioned being inspired by are:
Battle Royale
Liar Game
Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji
