Part of my “Wolf’s Rain HD” project where I take the standard definition frame, and extend it to HD resolution using digital painting techniques. Work in progress.

This cue is QUITE unique, as it only appears twice in the entire series, and each time is a slightly different recording and performance. The first one is during Hubb’s flashback sequence to his marriage, and the second is a slightly faster, and more extended version that appears during Jagura’s confrontation with Darcia near the end of the series.

What I particularly love about this one, is how Yoko Kanno, using the flute, weaves the “My Little Flower” theme into the piece. It’s a perfect juxtaposition, especially given the flashback scene and story. Hubb and Cher married, were happy, and had all this time they shared together……and Cheza was always there, and in Hubb’s mind a contributing factor to the erosion of their connection. The flute here almost says “don’t notice me”, and it did a great job as I only noticed it until now. This is musical storytelling!

Once again, this is the best that can be done to remove the voices. I’m getting ideas to reperform these myself using a virtual orchestra. Let me know if this is something you guys would be interested in. Not sure how many Wolf’s Rain nerds are out there, but I love each and every one of you! 🙂
