The Workshop on Canoe Culture was held at the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties on March 22, 2017 and was filmed by NGO Pasifika Renaissance. 2017年3月22日にカヌー文化研究会が開催され、NPO法人パシフィカ・ルネサンスが発表と総合討議を撮影しました。この研究会の記録と公開を許可して下さった発表者の方々と東京文化財研究所に感謝いたします。
● 趣旨：カヌー文化は環太平洋地域に共有された文化であり、現在、文化復興の一環として各地でその復興が進められています。つまりカヌー文化はそれ自体、人類の貴重な文化遺産といえます。一方でカヌーは、人力や風力といった再生可能エネルギーによって動くエコロジカルな乗り物であり、またその製作技術や航海術には自然を効果的に利用するための知恵が含まれています。こうしたことからカヌー文化は持続可能な社会の達成に何らかの示唆を与えてくれるかもしれません。この研究会では、南太平洋のフィジーでカヌー文化の研究に携わる専門家をお招きし、日本・フィジー両国の専門家が意見交換を図ることで、カヌー文化の理解を深めていくことができることを期待しています。
