April Showers Bring May Flowers Episode 1 Reaction – ブスに花束を 1話 海外の反応
What is up, guys? Back again today with another reaction on the channel. Today, I’ll be reacting to the first episode of April Showers Bring May Flowers. Yep. I think the show’s got a few titles, so I’ll just be calling it that from, uh, from here on. Uh, I know the general premise of this is about a girl that considered ugly, um, Japanese girl. Um, and I think it’s less that she’s ugly, it’s more more so that she seems overweight. And I imagine that stands out quite a lot in Japan. Um, I’ve recently been looking for a t-shirt, a Nana t-shirt from IA’s Hour. Um, and it’s only for women, um, sizes, but obviously it could be worn by a man. And I really like the design on it. And my size in that is extra extra extra large. So, um, I’m usually like a medium male, so um, yeah, I think that says quite a bit about women’s sizes in Japan. I think they’re even lower than Europe and uh America, which um so it probably means that bigger people stand out more often and are considered more ugly perhaps. But um yeah, from what I’ve seen, she actually looks relatively average. So um yeah, be interesting to see just how the perceptions are to her in this show. And um especially the romance, I think that’s going to be really uh quite wholesome. Um could be one of the better romance anime I’ve seen in a while. And on that point, it has been quite a while since I’ve seen one I really did like to be honest with you. Um, there wasn’t any last season. Uh, I don’t think I watched and I really really liked. Um, yeah, there was lots of good ones last year, so this year has been a little bit of a disappointment in that regard. Although, this season looks pretty promising on the romance side. So, yeah. I love I love watching videos of overweight people um getting more fit. It’s a shame though because a lot of the time I got I watched this really it was really empowering but um video of this guy and he just had so much skin. He was massive before he had so much skin excess skin. It’s kind of sad that you work that hard and it’s kind of cool in a way because that that’s just like this is what I used to be, but it’s also like you kind of want them to I imagine that’s um quite sub um what’s the word for it? You be quite subconscious about that, I think. But again, you could see that as like a really cool kind of these like my battle scars in a sense of this is just how hard I worked to get to a healthy weight. Just an awed pilot answering those questions, wasn’t she? See, I think she looks kind of cute. And she’s not even like big to be honest. That’s probably that’s probably actually like a healthy weight. But again, in Asia maybe that’s considered a bit overweight. Oh, look at her. It’s literally like she’s got a very normal face. And yeah, it’s like I I I don’t know why they they’re going to go with this kind of um premise. So why don’t they go like all out and actually just like make her fat and ugly is my question. You’ve got a a manga/anime about a fat ugly girl and you’ve kind of just made her average looking and pretty damn normal weight. It’s like they’re scared or something. Here’s the love interest. So, tabata that’s usually I usually hear that word like tab is like do you want to eat something? I think you usually hear that that word in that sentence. Something like that. I can’t remember what her first name is, but probably something in that regard as well. Lookswise, it does look a bit um it looks quite familiar like stylewise. Strawberry. It’s a beautiful array of flowers. She’s a good size as well. Like she’s she’s got a nice height. It’s very small. I think she’s quite cute. It always takes you out of it a bit a little bit. It’s kind of like movies when there’s like um just give an example of like a beautiful actress. Who’s one that’s actually done something like that though? Um it’s like it’s like getting like Margot Robbie or um Scarlett Johansson. I’m pretty sure. Yes. Scarlett Johansson. It’s like getting her to like play like an ugly role in like a movie. just like I don’t believe you whatsoever that you’re looked upon as this ugly woman. Kind of similar here. It’s like it it’s already like slightly taken out a bit because she’s not actually even ugly. I guess we can pretend that she is again in like my high school. She would just be your average girl. might be one of those things though like of um there’s certain um not sure how to word this really but like races of people that find me more attractive and some less attractive because I guess they have like different kind of values on attractiveness and different Yeah, guess this could be just like Japan’s vision of ugliness. Again, just normal anywhere else. It’s a little bit, it reminds me a little bit of um the car diaries a little bit as well with Mau kind of pretending to be ugly and all she really does is put some freckles on which actually she looks cuter with the freckles on them without I can very much relate to like this though, like just like wanting to just go undercover. I’ve always when I when I I’m like this now, but I always feel like, you know, Harry Potter and like when he’s like hiding under the stairs and there’s like people around, like that’s me. or be quiet and sit in your sitting your thing under the stairs. It’s a sad reaction, isn’t it? He look I think he looks a little bit like Nat. I do love a good muffin myself. One person has now she’s looking like bloody Shinji’s dad. Yeah, he really Yeah, he really looks quite a bit like Natsé from Natsme, doesn’t he? a bit more of a um generic kind of design of that. So that girl there really looks like that main character from the manga she’s reading. See, that’s going to be quite hard. What is that keeper doing? Oh yeah, little love letter. Love note. There’s already girls doing it. Corser is. Imagine this. I’ve never had one of these in my life. This guy’s already He’s got two girls in the same day doing it. Oh, here we go. Well, why are you guys all playing with jumpers on? It sure is. And I feel like it might be spoiled soon considering a pretty popular area, I assume. Anyway, yeah. again. She’s got that kind of like quirky cuteness to her, hasn’t she? That’s one of the things. And like for me, it’s like there’s like sexy women, then there’s cute women. And I think like cute women, one you’d like rather marry and kind of spend a spend a good amount of time with. Then the sexy women are like the women probably again convenient conventionally more attractive and so on but you wouldn’t want to um have a kind of deep or long-term relationship with or anything. And to me one of those is a lot more of an attractive option than the other. Beautifification Committee. Ironic. It’s not, but it should be. I think it’s the opposite. I think you’ve impressed him. Uh, is it is it is it what gives you the wrong idea or I think this is actually what you see in a showjo manga that gives you an inkling of the future. Imagine that would be horrible. I’m glad we haven’t seen any people actually be horrible to her yet. It’s kind of sad that her existence. Again, for me, this is almost like perfect, but I can understand that as like an actual human being, it’s probably bad to have your whole existence kind of ignored like this. But again, I can’t help but think that it’s actually for me. This would be like the perfect thing. Like, I can just kind of get by. And I know that’s kind of wrong. You shouldn’t think that, but it’s just um so much easier. Nice catch. So, here’s that [ __ ] main character. I’m not going to remember that name. Yeah, it’s a spitting image, isn’t it? slightly different color of flower, but This is quite nice as well to be fair. What is beautifification? Kind of sounds very all-encompassing. Yeah, that is one of the negatives of being like this. Unfortunately, group work. One’s worst nightmare. That’s not all that much. Don’t break your back. Use your proper form. Carry it properly. Should be all right. Oh, wow. So, she wasn’t even busy. Oh, again. Oh, I was going to say, well, if that’s the worst that’s happened to her, it’s not that bad. At least he’s not getting actually like bullied or anything, but he’s a full eyes. Oh yeah, I’m guessing that’s not the weed. That’s very illegal in Japan. urgent My allergies are getting bad just looking at this. I would definitely be able to help with this. All the pollen and everything. That’s going to be quite hard to say, isn’t it? Taba, would you like to eat in Japanese? Reminds me of that song of all like Japanese kind of tongue twisters. This is actually pretty good song surprisingly. All right. That big old bag, man. Pan, a bit of everything. or we could just romantically share this one. 811. Of course, I think that would be okay. Okay. Do you know what? I really like that first episode. Thought that was really good. Um, again, nothing kind of majorly new or um or anything in like the anime sphere. a lot of cliches here, but I thought it done really well to be honest with you. I thought um again, apart from the fact where it’s about an ugly fat girl and she’s not ugly nor fat. Um that that part is it’s just like you just got to envision that she is. Um and yeah, maybe again maybe it’s like a principles thing of like different nations. Who knows? Uh, that part is like the only thing that stands out to me as something that doesn’t that wasn’t awfully great um for this open episode. But everything else I thought was really good. The setup for um this girl at the end who’s like seemingly should be like the main character of like a manga here. Her I think that’s going to be a really interesting aspect of this if she she seemed quite nice initially. Is she going to continue to like be this seemingly quite nice person or a true if she if her true color pullers are quite dark? Are they going to come out in retaliation to like seeing this? Um, yeah. I just think it’d be quite interesting. Um, really like the main uh girl we got here, uh, Taveta. Should be pretty easy to remember that name. Um, all things considered, though I don’t remember a first name, so apologies. But, um, yeah, I really like the chemistry that was seen between the two today. It was, again, it wasn’t anything kind of majorly new or inspiring or anything, but I just thought they done a really good job. really solid job at um everything like the the soundtrack, the pacing I thought was really good. It never felt too fast or too slow. Things are progressing at a nice pace. Um all the characters again seem quite interesting and nice. Um and just had a lovely vibe about it. Uh it kind of reminds me a little bit of um I’m not sure if it’ll be quite as good, but it reminds me a little bit of Skip to which is getting a season 2 soon, which I’m very happy about. Kind of feels kind of similar vibes wise to that. probably won’t be quite as um indepth as that show, but very similar kind of warm vibes to it. And um yeah, really like this. I thought I would, hence I picked up in a season that I’m already covering a hell of a lot of shows. Um so yeah, I thought I’d pick this up and I’m glad I did cuz yeah, quite vibe with this episode. Thought it was really nice. Do let me know what you guys thought about this one though down in the comment section. Um, I think what can happen in shows like this is that the characters are are just like they’re cliches, but they they they can just be like, sorry, my nose is running a little bit. They can very easily just like be that cliche um and not like kind of evolve past that and they they just like cliched main character and you think she’s a side character, the the clichéed nice boy who gives time to a girl that maybe realistically he wouldn’t. Um, and it’s very easy for them to be like non- characters and I feel like that’s not going to be the case here. Um, so yeah, looking forward to episode two.
