Sakamoto Days Part 2 Episode 1-11 English Dub 2025
Don’t do this. Please let me go. What do you want from me anyway? Who the hell are you? You’re terrified, aren’t you? What a cutie. I love you. [Applause] [Music] What the? Wait a second. Were you always this ugly? Just a minute ago, I thought you were so cute. You’re exactly like everyone else. Never more attractive than when they’re terrified that they’re about to die. And yet, when I see that look on their face, I get so excited, I can’t help but finish them off. Maybe I’m just too impulsive. With this, I’m all set for tomorrow’s assignment. Who are you? That’s better. Now I can make sense of you. Because after all, it’s what’s inside a person that matters. Why is volume seven missing? I want to fix it. I hate this. I hate this. I hate this. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Just this. That’ll be 484 yet. That’s much better. That’s not enough. I’m going to need a whole lot more than that to get my fill. [Music] Give me the so-called Srank targets. [Music] Slow down. I know it’s been a while, but you’re all getting too fired up. Nobody likes it when you finish too fast. What’s that work? It’s so late. It’s nothing. Go back to sleep. Okay, man. What a waste. You have to know their personality, their past, and all the details of their life. That way, it’s exciting to watch it end. Let’s see. What thrilling conclusion do I want to savor the most? Sakamoto, I leave the mistress in your care. I will continue to investigate Slur. Be cautious about the escaped death row prisoners. They’re all deranged killers, a different species than assassins or mafia. I’m kind of surprised Wong left so quick. Would have been nice if he hadn’t taken our winnings from the casino with him. Doesn’t matter. Right now, we need intelling our enemies. Huh? Hey there, Sakamoto. What sort of info are you looking for today? Anything you’ve got on the death row inmates that were supposedly killed the other day. Well, over there’s psychological horror. Oh, this one too. They’re not hard. They’re going to be scary. Looks like we’re having a movie marathon. Is it okay if I watch with my eyes closed? Total comes to 1,83,000 yen. You know how I feel about Georgia, please. Give me a break. Sure. Did you hear? Word on the street is there’s some vulgar people causing mass havoc all over the city. Whoa. Oh my gosh. That’s pretty scary, huh? You’re a terrible actor. You know that? Oh, Saragi. Wasn’t that our exit? Oh, I missed it, didn’t I? I’ll just back up a bit. The back is clear. Not something you typically do on the freeway, but I got to say, you look cool behind the wheel. Take it easy, Osaragi. Where the hell did you learn how to drive like that? We’ve got an elderly passenger here. My apologies. Mr. Shishiba told me to. Both hands on the wheel, Osaragi. 10 and two. I don’t care if these cycles are on death row or what. Anyone who causes trouble on our turf is dead. I saw a movie yesterday where some punk said that line right before he died. That’s funny. Have you seen it here? Stop it, Nagamo. There’s no need to provoke him. What? What’ I do? Oh, Saragi, use your blinker. I was just thinking about that. I know they’re a bunch of serial killers, but they’re still just amateurs, aren’t they? What could Slur be thinking? I just can’t wrap my head around him. We’re talking about people with no morals or conscience. There’s nothing putting the brakes on their killing. They could be surprisingly strong. It’s not like you have brakes as a killer. I do. [Music] Osaraki duck. [Music] Sure, she has breaks, but we do have a killer who doesn’t. No, he puts the metal to the pedal. That’s our Mr. Takamura. Well, in any case, there’s only four, right? That’s not even enough for one for each of us. Mr. Shisha, let’s have something lucky for lunch. You and your superstitions. He’s asleep. Oh, okay. It’s not scary. It’s just boring. Yo, that was awesome. Taro, you just caught 99 ricochet bullets in a row. Missed one at the end, though. Man, I got to say, it sure is fun training together. Yo, I finally know what it’s like to have real friends. What do you say we go one more time while nobody’s around? Hey, incredible. Way to go, Mr. Sakamoto. Yo, it’s Shin. Of course, you know, no matter how much training like this you do, you’ll die if it’s your time. What do you want now, Nagamo? I figured you’d know it was me. Whoa. Hey, Shin, you’re like a whole another person today. Sakamoto, I heard a rumor. The story goes, you’ve been looking for those serial killers, the ones her friend Slurhired. What if I am? I came to tell you the order is taking care of it. Humble store clerks like you should steer clear. No chance. If we don’t act, nothing changes. I only wanted to warn you because I’m your friend. I’m guessing the association has a hit out on them. I need to ask them for information about slur. If the order kills them all, I can’t do that. You mean you want to take them alive? You’re as naive as always. Do you want to know what your enemies think of you? I’ll tell you what you got up there. B rank. In other words, you’re an easy target. Oh, by the way, oh, they consider me an S rank. [Music] A look at all the cute little kitty cats. Can you focus so we can get these errands done? What are we here for again? materials to reinforce the outside of the shop. I don’t know why, but I keep finding more and more holes in the wall. A just a little longer. You don’t have any reason to rush, do we? How can you be so relaxed right now? There’s a pack of deranged serial killers on the loose. I mean, you saw all those movies, right? Come on. You know they can’t be the boss, man. Yeah, but that’s not the point. This is about us right now. You and me are nothing but a burden to Mr. Sakamoto, if we want to be able to hang with him, we can’t just keep coasting, which means we have to focus on becoming stronger. Are you listening? Hi. Would you like to hold a puppy? I’m kind of in a hurry. You’re so cute, aren’t they? I’m not interested. I don’t like dogs. Oh, you’re a good boy. you are. Shouldn’t we get going? Ah, just a little longer. Huh? What’s wrong? You need to pee? That’s all with that face. What is the matter with them? Stupid creatures. When you come up against somebody you think is dangerous, the last thing you want to do is start barking at them. The right choice is running away with your tail between your legs. Excuse me. Who are you? I should know. I’m ex-military. I’ve seen a lot of people who think they’re tough drop like flies. And every time it’s such a waste. That’s the end of the story. Your last moment should be dramatic. That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to making sure people get the emotional endings they deserve. Like the piggy, before he goes, he needs to lose his family, friends, and all sense of hope. No time to waste on background characters. If the pace is too slow, the audience gets bored. [Music] [Applause] Shin, do you think? Yeah, there’s no question. He’s one of the serial killers, huh? I thought for sure I’d sliced you in half. You must have blocked me with a crowbar or something. Those were really nice moves, Shen. Impressive. Gee, thanks. But how do you know who I am? We’ve got the names of all our targets on this list. The mafia girl, Lu Shaong, C-rank. The former assassin Shin the clairvoyant. D rank. Wait, what the can be right? Lose ranked higher than me. Yep. Look, also D is the second rank from the bottom. Come on. I’m going to be worse than a drunk. So annoying. Don’t let it get you down, [ __ ] No matter what your rank, I’ll give you a good ending. D. Huh? Wait. I’ll get him a clean cut right through the waist. [Music] I’ll beat your ass half to death. Then we can talk about what rank I am. You sick, twisted psychopath. You’re hurting my feelings. I am not the crazy serial killer you think I am. Easy for you to say. You were on death row for a reason. Every person I’ve ever killed should thank me. Even in a really bad manga or movie. A dramatic death scene still packs an emotional punch. And you walk away feeling like the story was interesting, don’t you? This is the same. Nothing’s sadder than someone with a boring life. That’s why I give them the gift of an ending that’s unforgettable. Rest assured, I’ll give you both the same gift. Your deaths are going to be exquisite. What the hell? What’s up with his thoughts? Hey, Luke. You okay over there? Yeah, I’m fine. Here we go. Give it your best shot. No. No. Run. Can’t you see where he’s going to throw my radio is? The only thoughts I can hear are kill, kill, kill. You see anything we could use as a weapon? What about one of those hammers? Power shovel? Watch it all. [Music] Everything I’ve read says that you can read mine. Shin, can you read mine right now? My thoughts should be crystal clear. Whenever I meet someone as boring as you two are, all I can think about is how badly I want to kill them. Leave it alone, you jerk. Getting crafty with a nail gun, are we? Very clever. Did that do it? You two are so funny. The more of a struggle you give me, the more interesting your inevitable end will be. Nothing even faces this guy. I can’t believe how tough he is. Oh no. It’s important to disinfect wounds as soon as you can. Hey, blue. She took the blast from me. Alcohol. That hurt. I need a drink. Damn it. This is my fault. If only I was stronger. I can’t let Lou die. What now? What do I do? They’re late. Worried about Shinn and Lou? I’m sure they’ll be fine. Yo, I didn’t know Shinn until after he quit being hitman. But he’s got some skills, right? After all, he’s buddies with you, Taro. I wouldn’t say he doesn’t have potential, but he doesn’t have much experience putting his life on the line in a fight. I don’t think anyone’s seen the best of him yet. You really think so? Mhm. I don’t have much experience. You’re a little different. You disappoint me, Shin. Don’t you have anything else? Crying or peeing your pants, maybe? I’ll admit you’ve got an interesting ability, but what’s the point if you’re as dull as dishwater? It’d be great if I could get a peek into your mind right about now. What are you thinking about in the moments right before your death? This is a very special moment. You know, you should savor it. It’s going to be a good one. After I kill you two, Sakamoto’s family will be next. Now, he’s an interesting character. The death of a father after he’s been robbed of everyone he’s ever cared about. Now, that’s a truly spectacular ending. What do you suppose he’ll be thinking when he realizes all his loved ones are dead? [Music] Mr. Sakamoto, he dodged. Wait, what’s this strange feeling? What the? He stopped me before I could even move my hand. I can see a future. Got you now. [Music] What? What’s going on here? Everything about him’s just changed all of the sudden. fast reflexes. No, it’s not just reacting to me. It’s almost like he actually can’t see the future. [Music] [Music] It’s all thanks to you. Blocking out those lousy thoughts of yours taught me something. I learned how to dig deeper. Nobody hurts the people I love. Not you or anyone else. Motor readiness potential. What does that mean? I’ll explain using simple words even a monkey could understand. When a person consciously decides to move, the brain has made the decision before they ever think about it. Huh? What are you saying? Are you talking about the subconscious? That’s right. Let me get this straight. When I go to throw a punch, I imagine what it’s going to look like before I do it. But you’re saying a few ten of a second before that thought, my brain’s already decided to do it for me? Correct, mistress. I knew your brilliant mind would be quick to understand. Few ten of a second matters. Could keep someone from dying. Indeed, beyond clairvoyance, if you can read motor readiness potential, you’ll know your opponent’s next move before they do. It’s all thanks to you. Blocking out those lousy thoughts of yours taught me something. I learned how to dig deeper. Nobody hurts the people I love. Not you or anyone else. [Music] Time for me to put an end to this. Uh-oh. This is still new to me. I might have overdone it. [Music] Crap. [Applause] You’re causing an awful lot of trouble and you’re on my turf. Nobody messes with my family and gets away with it. That means you’re dead meat. Who’s that? Okay, what’s your deal? Why are you acting like that? Huh? That’s some strong ethanol. She drank this and now she’s gone all drunken fist. But this time, something’s different about her. She’s never been this kind of drunk before. Where are these changes coming from? You two are really confusing me, and I don’t like it. H. You honestly thought you could tangle with the triad, huh? No way. She’s mafia drunk. Shane, I would suggest you keep a safe distance. Die. [Applause] Where’d she go? [Music] I’ve got you. And the next thing I’m going to do is cut off each of your fingers for every person you’ve killed one at a time. Are you crazy? Get off me. Do you have any idea? You I don’t believe I gave you permission to speak. Damn it. That hurt. Okay, I can I won’t bother you anymore. You going to forgive me? I’m begging you. You’re begging, huh? When was the last time you showed mercy to someone who begged you to let them live? I’m going to die. No. I don’t like this ending. Get away from me. Get away. Bad endings are only fun when they happen to other people. I want those longer. I wasn’t finished. There are so many more people I haven’t killed yet. I heard that. You know, this is where it ends. [Music] Let that be a lesson to you. It doesn’t matter how you die. It’s about how you live. One of the c serial killers has already been beaten apparently at a department store. Oh, what will we do if there aren’t any left for us to deal with? Well, you wanted to waste time on superstitions. You said you wanted something lucky for lunch, Mr. Shisha. No, that was you. But take your time eating anyway. Oh, Nagamo’s calling. Hey, uh, I’m heading to one of our targets right now. Did you still feel too full to move? Sit this one out if you’re not feeling up to it. Bye. Sounds like we’re not needed for that one either. Makes for an easy day. Mostly quick so we can find a zero. Don’t shovel food in your face. It’s rude. Mhm. It was delicious, though. Hey, be careful. Those who rush things always die first. Okay. She’s never been one to be outdone. I can’t eat two bowls by myself. I’m stuffed. I can’t believe she would do this to me. I don’t deserve this. Why did she order it with my hands? Forget this. I’m not just going to roll over and die here. I have so many more people to kill. [Music] I need a ride to the airport. Uh, sorry. I already have a passenger. Then we’ll all go together, else I’ll kill you. Okay. All right. I’ll steal a little money and find some place to lie low for a while. Seems like you’re in a bit of a hurry. Oh, the other passenger. Sorry, pal, but we’re making a detour on the way to your stop. No need to apologize. I just got to where I’m going. Off we go. [Music] Hey, Lou. Come on. Wake up. Shin, what caught up your butt? That guy’s gone. We’ve got to go find him fast. Shin, what is it? What’s wrong with your head? Is this an after effect of my new power? Crap. This is not the time. If you’re looking for Saw, he’s dead. Good riddance. This is a public area. He absolutely trashed the place. Nobody ever spares a thought for floaters like us. Haven’t seen them in a while. Huh? Who are they? They’re the JA’s post incident cleanup crew. Whenever an assassin makes a mess, the floaters put everything back together. I’m so sensation. They don’t sound too feminine. They work part-time when they’re not in class at assassin school. By the way, what were you thinking drinking this? Huh? It’s pure ethanol. You could have died. Don’t be silly. My grandpa used to drink that. Don’t we have shopping to do? Oh crap. We’ve got to get back to the store. This is nice. Let’s see. What should I ask for? I pray that I get to kill those serial killers. I’ve never understood that. Why do people always feel the need to close their eyes when they pray? That was quick. My prayer’s been answered. Thank you for always listening. Well, well, looks like I just found the number one ugliest mug on the list. Do you know how to give thanks to the gods at a Japanese shrine? I’ll show you how, two boughs, three, then two claps and another bow. Oh, I forgot the offering comes before that. You know what? Why don’t I give you a little makeover to help with that ugly face of yours? Okay, Osaragi, where did you run off to? What do you think? I’ve got an urge to make you look real pretty. The order sentences you to die today violently. She’s like an akidna. You’re all nothing but a bunch of savages. The only real crime I ever committed was falling in love. For that, they locked me up and sentenced me to death. Does that sound like a fair punishment to you? Besides, you’re a killer just like I am. Who are you to pass judgment on me? Judgment? No, I don’t do that. You squish boats that crawl into your home, right? So do I. That’s what this is for me. The JA is my home. And the order is well, um, a fly swatter, except the kind that’s electrified. You got a weapon in there? Why else would you carry such a heavy bag? [Music] What’s wrong? Why are you attacking like you did before? You too scared to come at me unarmed. One spike on a can and six more on her body. H I wonder where they go when she’s not using them. They’re like back scratchers. Strange. Maybe she hides them inside her bones. What now? I don’t want to get too close. I didn’t bring any bandages with me. So, want to say a prayer to your gods again? Maybe I can help you with that since you just taught me how. [Music] Jeez. Are you okay? How dare you? That’s not how you do it. Foreigner trying to cool off. Gods, I’d punish you for desecrating the bell of a shrine like that. Punish me? I won’t face any punishment. The gods are far too benevolent for that. Future blessings. It’s always struck me as strange. Why wouldn’t the gods want to punish me? If I were a god, I’d never want to create people like you and me. You should be scared, you ugly dog. But since they’re too kind, I help by maintaining order on their behalf. A coldblooded serial killer has no need for prayer. Whenever I’ve been in love, it’s always been one-sided. I like you. Is it wrong to want someone all to yourself? I like you. You want to go out? Okay. I like you, too. I want the people I love to fill their hearts with me and me alone. I love you, Dump. We’re best friends forever. I love you. And fear is the best way to do that. There’s no room for lies. When someone’s afraid, I know I have their full and undivided attention. And yet, for some reason, I still feel so empty. Once they’re dead, they no longer feel anything for me at all. Heartbreak is painful. So now I need to find my next lover. [Music] [Music] Why am I being singled out? There’s nothing about me that’s different than anyone else. All I did was fall in love. You don’t think you’re different? I’m not. All I ever wanted was to be loved. We are different. We’re killers. And yet, because people like you exist, I’m needed. I have a reason for being here. [Music] So, I’m grateful. I love you. Beautiful. [Music] Yo, Taro, I haven’t found any of those serial killers, huh? Oh, no worries. I’m not letting anyone get in the way with hurting my friends. Soon as I find one, I’ll let you know. They’re so weird looking. They should be easy to spot. Shoot. Yo, this is what you see all the time. PK, man. Must be pretty great flying way up high like this. Yo. Okay, I can use this thing for super peace game mode. Now, where are those serial killers hiding? [Music] Yes, it’s about our death row inmates. It appears two have already been eliminated, meaning everything’s going according to plan, right? The order has been lured out into the open and now we can transition to the next phase. Yes, our work continues in the interest of the greater good. Who are you talking to? [Applause] What is it you’re trying to do here? I haven’t seen you since we broke you out of prison apart. How can I be of service to you? You avoided my question. I want to die. I don’t like it when people aren’t real with me. It’s impossible for people to understand each other if they’re not willing to expose everything inside of them. Wait, what? I am grateful to you for your help in getting me out of prison. But I simply won’t tolerate being used. I’m going to live the way I used to, using my own methods. How dare you? You’re not to lay a finger on anyone who’s not on the list. That wasn’t part of our deal. [Music] I want to understand. I want to know more and more people till I know them all. It’s never enough. [Music] How did I let this happen? I underestimated him. This one is far too dangerous. Now there’s no telling what sort of damage he could do to our plans. No need to overreact, Kashima. Why don’t we let him do as he pleases? Master. Oh no, this is embarrassing. Calm down. It’s fine. We might as well enjoy a little risk. This should be the perfect maneuver to destroy the association. The more they want to wreak havoc, the better. How’s your day today? Is Jyn doing okay? I’m so glad to hear that. Nothing much going on. We haven’t had any customers yet today. Uh-huh. Nothing I can’t handle. You just take care of Oh, sorry. I’ll call you back. Okay. Hi there. Welcome. [Music] Is there something I can help you find? You can do it, Daddy. Careful not to fall over. Yo, little to your right. So close. You’re doing so good, Dad. Hey, want to play a little prank? I don’t know. I don’t want to get killed. Come on. I would be fine. This watermelon splitting game is too easy for the boss man. You’re doing great, Mr. Sakamoto. Just keep going. Perfect. I knew I could get him to do this. [Music] [Music] Oh, it’s so good. [Music] Sorry. [Music] No, Mr. Sakamoto. Don’t do this. Why are you doing this? He’s not moving. I’ve got him. I’ll get this. Please. I’m begging you, Mr. Sakamoto. After our fight with the serial killer, Saw, we went to Mr. Sakamoto’s favorite holistic healer. Please, Mr. Sakamoto. Relax, you baby. It’s just a little acupuncture. [Music] I almost didn’t recognize you. I don’t think I’ve ever had a client as tubby as you are. Besides, former hitmen don’t often have a reason for my visits. You’re the only one who could help him. Quit touching them, you sadistic freak. Mr. Sakamoto, dude, the needles hurt. You know, the weird thing is my body just feels super relaxed. This old lady knows what she’s doing. The best assassins all never come to Granny Mia whenever they need medical attention. That checks out. Hitmen call her the godly hand. There’s nobody better. You come to Granny Mia with almost any injury. She’ll fix you up. That’s amazing. As long as you’re not already dead. Hey, old lady. How long is this going to take? Watch your tongue, you little brat. I’m only 98 and still ticking. You’ll need to stay like that for at least a day. That new power of yours takes its toll on the body. Like holding your breath while sprinting as fast as you can. Even on your best day right now, I’d say you couldn’t last more than 5 minutes at most. 5 minutes? That’s all. If you want to die, do whatever you like. Excuse me, Granny. Could you take a look at me, too? I’m not sure why, but I’m feeling a little dizzy. Oh, come here. Uh-huh. That’s what I thought. This will be a tricky one. Your body’s built up some bad toxins. You’ll want to drink this clam miso soup. I feel so much better already. That’s just a normal hangover cure. You want to? All right, Taro. That’s good. Your turn. Lie down. It’s been far too long since your last checkup. You’ve made some new friends. Not the kind I’d expect you to run around with. They seem like nice kids. When you leave here, you’re planning to raise some hell, aren’t you? Well, how do you figure? This pressure point stores anger. It’s only sensitive for people with a lot of it. There’s no sense trying to keep secrets from me. No secrets doesn’t hurt. It hurts. Your rage is understandable after those kids got roughed up. But if you try to go it alone, you’re asking for trouble. may not realize it, but right now you’re only about I’d say 30% as strong as you were back in the old days. Taking 5 years off really widened the gap between you and Nagamo. By the way, they consider me an Srank. [Music] It doesn’t matter. I can’t let those maniacs run loose. Hold up. H. That pressure point should make you feel better. No need to thank me, though. Thanks, Granny Mia. Take care of them for me. Hey, where are you going? Don’t be stupid, Taro. Back off. Leave me alone, you crazy drunk. Uh, is there something specific you’re looking for? Tell me where Taro Sakamoto is. I’m sorry. My husband had to take the day off so he can go get a massage. Don’t try to hide him. There’s nothing I hate more than when people lie to me. Huh? No. I promise I’d never tell a lie. You’re not understanding the situation you’re in. [Music] [Applause] There was still money inside of that. Whoops. Hi there. Is it making sense to you now? Tell me where Taro Sakamoto is or I’ll crush you into a little ball. Do as I said. [Applause] How you? Gosh, look at the mess you’ve made. I gota wait. Oh, no wonder you’re not dead. I forgot to swap out my toy knife for a real one. This guy was on the list. He’s an S rank. You lied. Now I’m going to crush you. You’re not that good. Here’s the thing. I’m in charge of the store today. Agamo, you take care of things here. I’m worried about my family. I don’t want to. Don’t forget, you owe me one. Well, I guess if I have no choice. I better be getting paid for this, though. Sure. I wouldn’t be a very good friend if I refused a little favor like that. Look at this pisk. This part of the floor is made of glass. Yo. Oh, I’m afraid to step on this thing. Yeah. Yeah, I know. I promise I’m not playing around. Just like my gam gam always used to say, if you’re having a hard time looking for something, make sure to check right under your nose. Huh? I need to find more people so that I can understand them. I want everyone to understand them all. Hi there. What What are you thinking? What? I want to know what you’re thinking about right now. I don’t know. You show me your insides. Abs. I found one of them. He was right under my nose all along. Thanks, Scam. [Applause] What’s this? He blocked the bullet. Yo, just like Toro does. Uh-oh. How much is that glass going to cost? Huh? Look. So scary. [Applause] What’s with this, Jun? Yo. Thank you, Bish. There’s just something special about using Fred because it symbolizes the connections people have with one another. You know what I mean? Strange, huh? I’m not quite sure, but I get the feeling you’re beautiful on the inside. That was a close one. Yo, what? Lucky for me, he wasn’t very far away. [Music] [Applause] [Music] You okay, Ace? Sorry for the wait. Oh, good. But I sure was sweating. Of course, I knew my signal would get your attention. Thanks a lot, Taro. That hurt. It’s been a long time since someone hit me like that. If you can pack a punch with that much power, then maybe you can understand me. Maybe I can connect. I’ll take care of him. Somehow my body feels lighter today. 432 people. I’ve killed so many it’s never done anything to kill me of my endless boredom. I hope once I kill you, I’ll finally be satisfied. You count how many people you’ve killed. That’s so many numbers. Good job. Try not to make too much of a mess. Okay. I want Sakamoto to name me employee of the month. What are you doing up there? Just borrowing your phone. I don’t suppose you have slurs number, do you? Wow, you don’t have many friends. Hardy get in my pocket without me noticing. You were wide open. How could I not? Let’s see. I wonder what I’ll find in your search history. You’re pissing me off. Give it back. Yikes. Oh, you must care about privacy. You won’t just sit still. Maybe I can bump some alien poop again. Loudly in there today. Where is that little freak? He’s gone. Did he run? No. That’s his suitcase. [Music] He must be hiding. Where are you? Where’d you go? Do you want to fight me or not, coward? Got you again. Damn it. How is this getting so strong? Let’s see. Car keys, chewing gum, receipt from a fast food place, of course, the hit list. I figured you would have nothing good. Pocket full of junk. Moving on. Okay. Because I’m such a nice guy and we have options, I’ll let you decide how you want to die. What is that? A weapon? [Music] So, what’s it going to be? This thing has six different functions to choose from. I find it to be a very handy tool. It gets so boring when you do it the same way. So, I came up with this Go ahead. Pick a number from 1 to six. Then we’ll be done. You think I’m just going to sit here and let you mock me? You know I can crush you up in a tiny ball, right? Really? I got to make a choice. Then we’ll let this little guy make the decision. [Music] Where did it go? Number three. Unlucky for you. [Applause] Number three is a party size can open. Oh, you can’t hear me. Oops, I messed the place up pretty bad. Oh crap. Now I’ll never be employee of the month. Fascinating. I’ve never seen someone so big move so fast. Yo, Taro, that’s weird. I can’t slow down. Huh? Granny Mia, what did she do? [Music] Are you okay? What the? I can’t get through. You’re pretty tough, aren’t you? Getting rubber. You got him now. He’s some kind of spider guy. That’s a neat trick. I can’t believe it. How could you? They were all arranged perfectly. Not too sure what that’s all about. But while he’s distracted, now’s my chance to slip down. Yo, Taro, you’re so awesome. Did that do it? Not really. Why isn’t it working? Great. Oh, no. These threads are pretty sharp. Could be tough on the root. But I have no choice. That’s disgusting. How did your pockets get so filthy? I could never understand someone like you. Strange. My body feels so light. You think Mr. Sakamoto is only at 30% of his potential. At least when he’s tubby like he is most of the time. But he’s still so powerful. Is it just because his body’s too heavy? Well, that’s part of it. Sure. But when you’ve been out of the game for a while, you pretend you can still do everything the way you did in your prime. But if he slims down, it’s not a problem, right? More than one way to skin a cat. I think he could stand to learn that people who are overweight have their own way of moving. Huh? Wait, hold on. You’re a sloppy mess, and it’s really starting to bother me. Huh? It’s just that I’m not good with people like you. Anyone as sloppy as you are doesn’t know how to be considerate of others. I really hate people like you. The type that ends up offending people without realizing it. I’m not a sloppy mess. Am I? How can you say that wearing sandals like those? Yo, Jaro, those things look like they’re going to fall apart any second. I can’t believe you moving though so well. It shouldn’t matter whether your shoes fall off your feet or you break all your bones. The strongest are those who know how to adapt their movements to suit their conditions. Because Taro doesn’t understand. He thinks that burning calories and slimming down is the best way to fight. Of course, before he ran off earlier, I hit a pressure point. I’m guessing right about now, his body is finally starting to come to terms with all the weight he’s put on. [Music] As soon as he learns to accept himself the way he is, he’ll find he’s plenty stronger already without needing to slim down. Nice work, Granny Mia. We’re going down. I think it’s my turn now. Well, we’re so high up and getting higher. I can see through the wall. Hey, what’s that? Something follow us. What is that sound? Feels pretty good. Amazing. You’re the first person I’ve connected with in such a long time. I’m honestly starting to enjoy this. What do you say? Would you be willing to listen to my story? Sorry. Sounds like something that’s going to take too long for me. [Music] Hey, Osaragi. A ramen festival. What do you say we check it out? You think we should? This isn’t our target’s location. Come on. You know what they all say. Don’t hunt on an empty stomach, right? Let’s eat something lucky. Who says we can’t eat ramen for good luck? Can’t we get something I want to eat for a change? After all, a long noodle’s supposed to mean a long life. That’s the kind of good luck charm I want. Then we’ll know this mission isn’t going to kill us. Hurry up then because I’m starting to get hungry. I didn’t think she’d change her mind so fast. Mr. Shisha, what is this? You mean the red pickled ginger? Do you eat that, too? It’s an important part of getting the flavor you’re supposed to. Then here you can have mine. Saraki, can I ask you a question? What would you do that for? Because you said you wanted it, Mr. Shishiba. No, I didn’t. Did too. Did not. You said it was an important part of the flavor. I did say that. Seems like the secret to this dish is all the cilantro. I’m sorry, sir, but we just used up the last of our cilantro. You can’t have any. It’s mine. Oh, Saragi, can you pass me the hot sauce? Uh, this one. [Music] What did you feed me? It’s the wrong one. It’s labeled death sauce. This was my main target. If I can eat as much of this as I want, then we’ll all be worth it. Is this thing taken? I hope you don’t mind. [Music] That’s our primary target. Are you guys from the JA? [Music] Is everything all right? I’ve been looking forward to eating that ramen all day. You know, Tory gates are sacred. They’re the doorways to the gods. Now, imagine you work hard all day and when you come home, you find your front door’s been destroyed. Wouldn’t you be upset? Sorry, but you were busy eating lunch, Mr. Shisha. You mean your leftovers? What do you want? Hey, Shabbo. Long day. Nagamo, you’re talking with your mouth full. I’m on lunch at my side hustle. Why do you need a side hustle? You see the last page of the serial killers list? It wasn’t in the copy we had. Give me a second. Well, Slur is full of surprises, isn’t he? Looks like he was planning on sending these poor saps after each other in the end. It’s twisted, but efficient. I can’t argue with the logic. No, there’s more to it. He never expected them to last that long. Huh? What do you mean by that? Things are about to get complicated. Hey, what’s that? Amazing. You’re the first person I’ve connected with in such a long time. What do you say? Would you be willing to listen to my story? Sorry. Sounds like something that’s going to take too long for me. That’s not very polite. You’re done. Tell me, do you remember when you first connected to the rest of the world? I’m talking about the moment you first realized that you weren’t alone. I remember it like it was yesterday. As a kid, I never figured out how to fit in over here. Oh, you suck. I’m home. My mother didn’t care. I barely remember her talking to me. I wouldn’t know her voice. However, how’s it going, Apart? Hey, what’s the matter? You look so sad. You accidentally eat a pickle or what? My father was always kind to me, but work kept him busy, so he wasn’t around much. I loved my dad. Listen apart. With people, it’s about what’s inside. If you have a kind heart and you’re always honest with the people you meet, you’ll never have trouble making friends. You’re a good kid, Apart. In fact, why don’t we practice? Look at this. I got you a present. Hello there, Aart. Oh, let’s be friends. Okay. [Music] Hey, excuse me. Can I play, too? Who the hell is this little freak? Weirdo. [Music] I don’t get it. Why don’t they want to be friends with me? Who the hell is this little freak? [Music] [Laughter] [Music] going. Hey, over here. [Music] You’re going to kill it. [Music] Hi, Dad. Welcome home. Oh, hey. Guess what? I was just part I’m sorry. It’s okay. It’ll be okay. We’ll go to the doctor tomorrow. [Music] Everything’s normal. He’s perfectly healthy. No tumors or anything out of the ordinary. Everything’s normal. That can’t be right. What is it then? There must be a reason. My son chopped up an animal. And you’re telling me that there’s nothing wrong with him? Uh, well, I You’re talking about my son? I won’t sit here and let you tell me he’s just a monster. Dad, it’s okay. Back off. Get away from me. What’s wrong with you? [Music] Shut up. I’m not a monster. There’s nothing wrong with me. What’s this? Look, Dad. They’re the same. Your head looks like mine. It’s about what’s inside. And inside, we’re the same. I’m so glad I’m not a freak. I’m connected to everyone. For the first time, I knew I wasn’t alone. I knew I was just like everyone else. I’m connected to everyone. This is my way of reaffirming that connection for myself. I’d like to see what you are like on the inside. You’re wrong. When you kill someone, you’re only severing that connection. You’re done hurting people. You have no right to judge me for my way of life. That’s rude. Didn’t anyone ever teach you manners? Is this supposed to leave like that? What? Tower’s falling over. Yo, I’ve made a decision. When I’m done cutting you into pieces, I won’t bother to arrange them. You don’t know the first thing about human connection. You’ll never hurt anyone again. What the? Huh? That’s weird. Does the tower look crooked to you? Oh, that’s not good. I know you’re busy and all, but we could use some help here, Taro. This is exciting. Dad would be so happy for me. I’m going to connect with so many people all at once. [Music] Electrical cables. [Applause] Good thing I weigh so much. Stopped. Yeah, we should go down while we can. That made me nauseous. We were in the middle of a conversation. Look at me when I’m talking to you. Okay, I’m ready to see what’s inside you. Now what? What’s that? [Music] What the hell? Huh? Doesn’t look like it’s going to fall anymore. It’s back upright, but uh the shape’s all weird now. Toro, do something. How? That blood lust. Could it be [Music] back already? You find the bathroom, sir? Say, any idea what that loud noise was back there? Okay, here’s my chance. You’re about to feel my full weight. So heavy. [Music] [Music] Damn you. Why won’t you accept me? Why don’t you want to connect with me? Why am I the only one? I’m only human. How am I different than anyone else? Why Why does my life have to be so hard? [Music] Not too late to change that if you’re willing to try. Promise. Cuz I’m not letting go of this cable. [Music] So cool. Here, your mission is now complete. Thanks a lot. Maybe now we can have a real conversation. [Music] Aw, my teacup’s empty. Hey, Lou, can you quit kicking me in your sleep? Granny Mia, do you mind if I make some more tea? Sure, whatever you want. Huh? Where am I? I was fighting Sakamoto at the tower. Now I’m laying on one table. What is this? And I’m surrounded by people I don’t know. Hey, I know you’re awake. You can’t pretend you’re still asleep with me. What are you trying to pull? Are you all working for that reindeer, too? I’m not going to let anyone use me. So, give it up. All you’re doing is wasting your time. Yeah. What? No. No. We’re not trying to use you. You got it all wrong. We just want to talk. We were hoping you might be able to help us out with something. Yo, I don’t understand. You could have killed me. Why am I still alive? You’re welcome. Why don’t you say thank you to Mr. Sakamoto? Come sit down. I didn’t bring you here to start another fight. The only thing we want is for you to tell us everything you know about the guy who hired you. That’s right. Yo, right now you’re the only one we can count on. And if you help us out, I’ll let you have this tangerine. Okay. The only one they can count on. How do you know you can trust me? Weren’t you worried I’d attack you when I woke up? You could have, but I had a hunch. So, I figured I’d bet on changing you instead. Am I wrong? Besides, if you try to start trouble, I can just throw you into the sky tower again. You’re impressive. Toro beats you up and you’re still walking. Yo, I almost feel sorry for you even though you’re a bad guy. If Mr. Sakamoto hadn’t been holding back, you’d be on a whole another planet and you still haven’t said thank you. They’re talking to me like I’m a regular person. What a bunch of weirdos. Okay, what do you want to know? Yo, thanks, bro. My contact was the deer or a cyborg with a deer’s head? I haven’t heard the name slur before. A cyborg with a deer’s head. That’s weird. Him again, Mr. Sakamoto. You know that guy? Yeah. Go on. Where did you last see him? I just happened to visit the hotel he was staying at. I lost my temper with him and cut his body into pieces. But afterward, I left a string behind to listen in on the conversation for a while. This should be the perfect maneuver to destroy the association. The more they want to wreak havoc, the better. All right, then. So, we move on to phase two, just the way you planned it, master. Yes, exactly. And while these serial killers are keeping the order busy, we’re going to wipe out their base. We are only a distraction allowing them to annihilate the JA. If you ask me, you’re better off steering clear of the whole thing. Not that I understand it all myself. The Japanese Association of Assassins, aka the JA. There are over 1,000 members. Just under 400 are professional hitmen. It is the largest assassin organization in Japan. Who’s next? Recoil on this thing’s way too strong. Has a tendency to jam. The slide’s not going back all the way. Got to get it fixed before you use it in a real fight. The association’s KTO headquarters administers mission assignments, fields requests from clientele, and supports assassins on the job. Thank you for choosing the JA. How can we help you today? In assassination, accident cleanup, assassination. Very good. They offer a wide range of services, including repairs of public areas that have suffered collateral damage, as well as weapons development, and manufacturing. In short, it is the core of the JA. And today, an unprecedented event will take place here that will change the organization forever. The place is huge. This is the JA. Yes, but not their main headquarters. These guys have serious cash. Where do you suppose we should park? Hang right over there. I believe there’s a bike rack up ahead. Hello. Do you have authorization to be here? Got a staff or visitors badge? Sorry, but the general public’s not allowed access into the building. Oh, no. I don’t belong to the JA, I’m afraid. That’s too bad for you, cuz we have strict protocols for intruders. JA regulations call for termination immediately. Hey, boss, you don’t still have a license. Do you? No, I look terrible in that photo. I threw it away. Oh, whenever they take your picture, they never give you enough warning. What the, you know, I haven’t walked through that door in ages. It almost makes me nervous. Kind of like the first day of school at the start of the semester. It’s that antsy, restless feeling. Yeah, I know what you mean. I always felt self-conscious going to class with a new haircut. Exactly. Even you get nervous. Huh? Apparently, when you fail to perform under stress, you’re too focused, giving excessive amounts of attention to ordinary actions. Oh. Uh, you’ve been reading again, boss. Well, let’s just try to relax, Gaku. You say that like I’m the one that’s feeling nervous here. It’s all in service for the greater good. Slur thinks he can wipe out the JA. He mustn’t be out of his mind. Nobody’s strong enough to pull that off. Mr. Sakamoto, what should we do? I’m thinking we go to the JA. Huh? Here we go. Hey, Shin, when you get a day off, what do you do? Huh? Uh, lately I’ve been hanging out with HK. Take a look. We played airsoft the other day and stopped at a bath house on the way home. Wow, you guys are pretty good friends now. What do you do with your time off? Well, I’ve been hanging with Haste Kid, too. We went to an arcade the other day. It was fun. We wanted to try that zombie game that just came out. Poor guy looks like he’s about to pee his pants. Hey, Mrs. Akamoto. We’re just about finished here. Say, I’m curious. What have you been doing on your days off lately? Um, family and I had hot pot with HK yesterday. Huh? What? Oh, um, we were just talking and it seems like everybody’s been hanging out with Hay lately. He’s got a lot of spare time on his hands, huh? Well, it’s not like he’s got a day job. Here comes the roller coaster. [Music] Having so popular. So, we’ve been having some nice weather lately, don’t you think? Hey, who the hell are you guys? Hold it. We need to see a staff or visitors badge. All right, Gaku. The rest is up to you. Oh, all by myself? Is there anything else I need to keep in mind? Be careful. Only the oddnumbered floors have bathrooms. Okay. Alert. Intruders in the building. All combatants, arm yourselves and report to the first floor. Non-combatants, please. Intruder alert. No way. Got to be a joke. Two intruders have been detected. Two. What the hell do we pay those guards for? They must have a death wish. You want to bet on which department ends up taking them down? Wait, you’re not coming? I’ll pass. Got work to do. Besides, there’s no way two guys can make it up to the Huh? [Music] That’s just great. Now I need to pee. What floor is this again? Fire until I say so. Yes, sir. In three, two, one. Okay, stop firing. [Music] Damn it. I knew I should have stayed home today. [Applause] Pull yourself together, Takabe. You’re setting a bad example for the young men’s. Mr. Anoda, how many dead? Give or take about 40 staff on the first three floors, and they’ve been here about 2 minutes. They’re monsters. That felt good. [Applause] [Music] It’s getting awfully noisy down there, right? Long time no see. Hey, boss. Have you lost weight? Hello, Uda. Good to see you. Now, let me guess. Did you bring Gaku with you? H. He always did go overboard, the showoff. Apologies. You had to act as a sleeper agent all year. Where are your men? They’re on guard at the front doors. Salary at the JA is pretty good. And they’ve got a nice benefits package as well. Cushier gig than working for some people. Make any friends? Yeah, a few. They were in development on the third floor, so they’re all dead by now. I’m sorry. It’s all good. So, the next phase is finally starting. A full reset of the corrupt ja. It’s time for a new order. One that I create. Huh? Stop. Now, one more step. Right now, this building’s under Slur’s jurisdiction. So, scram unless you want to die. [Applause] [Music] [Music] Something’s coming. myself. That’s one bad grandpa. [Music] No, thank you. What’s Gaku doing down there? The old man’s alive. Phantom of the JA. We’ll have to wrap this up quickly. [Applause] The part you said you were going to put down a net for the landing. And it caught me like I said it would. Damn it. I can’t believe it. Usuki, you’re still alive. Sakamoto, it’s been a while. I’m almost heartbroken seeing an old friend let himself go like you have. Mr. Sakamoto knows this guy. Give my regards to Sakamoto. Wait, it’s him. I’d prefer it if you’d forget my previous name. I like being referred to as slur. No way. This is slur. Why put a bounty on my head after all this time? What are you trying to accomplish? So many questions. What happened? I don’t remember you being so chatty. Mr. Saki, [Music] let him go. I won’t let you sell my connection. A no, you didn’t finish the big guy off. That’s odd. Mr. Sakamoto, you’re bleeding. Shin, you two stand back. Stand back. I’ve got this. I’d be careful. You can’t predict when it will be your time to die. Sakamoto. Well, what are you waiting for? When we waste precious time, we’re only wasting our lives. Mr. Sakamoto boss want me to take care of him? Oh, no thanks. You deserve a little time off. And honestly, I’m finding this little class reunion rather entertaining, right, Sakamoto? Don’t you want to see if you can kill me again? [Music] You remind me of the person I used to be. Your naivity is infuriating. What just happened? [Applause] You have to give it your all. Otherwise, everyone around you suffers. Your intent to kill must be transparent. Isn’t that what the JCC teaches? I wasn’t the star student you were, but after graduation, I finally figured it out. You don’t need a heart to kill. Here, watch. I’ll show you an example. Now, what? Mr. Sakamoto, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. Foolish boy, you should be killing yourself instead of apologizing. Don’t you think, Sakamoto? At this rate, all three of you will be dead soon. You haven’t let yourself go so much that you can’t see that. You’ve only one option here. You’re going to have to kill me. I’m not an assassin anymore. If you let me walk away from here, all you’re doing is killing someone else. As I understand it, Sakamoto, you have a daughter. That blood lust. He’s here. [Music] [Music] Welcome back, Taro Sakamoto. Try not to blow it this time. [Music] Forget that. Well, it was just getting interesting. Don’t give me that. Nobody ever said a word to me about that freaky old guy. I survived just as I now. [Music] Go on. Right. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Who needs it? We’re leaving. Yaku, this fight is insane. Maybe it’s time to show us what you can do, boss. Give me a break. [Music] Hold it. You can’t escape. Nice seeing you again, Sakamoto. Bye for now. [Music] I’m sorry, Budda. No need to be happy to be of service. Mr. Sakamoto, I’m sorry. Your apron. It’s all right. [Music] [Music] You have no kid. Hey, boss. I think we need to get a move on. One arm makes it kind of hard to walk. They just left. It was an otherwise ordinary day in September. 76 dead, three injured, and one more missing. Only half a year after Slur began his purge, the number of professional assassins in Japan had been reduced to one quarter of its initial size. Tourists are flocking into the city. The latest attraction, the Leaning Tower of Tokyo. But some local residents aren’t thrilled to see the newcomers. First though, Taro, dear, would you like some dauku? Yes, I would. His body kind of looks like a dauku. Mr. Sakaboto, you’re eating too much. Are you lost, son? I can’t do it. How can I show my face in front of him after what happened? Foolish boy. You should be killing yourself instead of apologizing. I thought I’d gotten stronger. I thought fighting that serial killer taught me something, but I was still nothing but a burden to Mr. Sakamoto. Damn it. The least I can do is give him this fruit basket and get out of his hair. Remind me what you’re tagging along for. Because if I let you come alone, you would just turn it into a fight. Knock knock. How you feeling, Sakamoto? What do you want? Oh, don’t be like that. Can’t we visit our friend when he’s laid up in Enough of the small talk. Sakamoto, you had contact with Slur. I did. Wasn’t pretty. Nagamo. Slur is Usuzuki. I thought you killed Usuzuki. If this is supposed to be a joke, it’s not a very funny one. Hey, who the hell is Usuzuki? I don’t follow. classmate of ours, Sakamoto and I trained at the JCC with him. He was a nobody. Didn’t leave much of an impression on anyone at the time. Huh. If he had shown any promise at the school, I’d have heard about him long ago. But in your class, Sakamoto, Nagamo, and Akao were the only names anybody ever mentioned. Of course, when it came to you two, I heard more bad things than good. Yeah, I don’t remember hearing your name come up at all. Kill. Leave me alone. Oh, the late bloomer. Don’t make me kill you. He was a classmate of Mr. Sakamoto’s. Whatever. Now that we know who he is, we can take over from here. See you around, Sakamoto. Leaving already. Hold on. There’s something else I haven’t told you. What’s that? Something you’re going to want to know. Why don’t we make a deal? I’ll give you what I have if you tell me everything the order knows about Slur. Let’s get one thing straight. You has been. The order is not friends with retired hitmen. I heard you didn’t just quit being an assassin, but you went and started a family. If you go poking your nose in places it doesn’t belong. Cool to take care of your wife and daughter when you’re gone. I never did like you. You think you can just do whatever you want, but that attitude’s going to get you killed. Don’t write me off. I’m not dead yet. You need me to put you in your place? Why? Aren’t you a big one? Okay, you’re a goner. It’s just a matter of time at this point. Maybe you’re right. But there are times when a father can’t back down. I need to be the one to protect the people I care about. Meaning you can’t let yourself trust anyone else. That used to be the case, but not anymore. What the? A magnet. It’s an MRI machine. Damn it. Yo, Art, please. I need you to tell me everything you’ve got on Slur. I have to protect my family. Hard to believe you’d ever ask me for a favor. The JA forbids sharing classified information with outsiders. But if I were you, the JCC database would be the next place I’d look. Thanks for the tip. Hey, you didn’t give me your information. You are too gullible. Yo, it’s always getting you into trouble. Shut up. Sorry for the disturbance, doctor. It happens around here. So cool. I like your new accessory. I’ll kill you. I’m kind of surprised. I never would have expected a member of the order to be a softy. He’s always secretly been kind at heart. This was just a um a get well soon present, but I couldn’t bring it. Why not? I was nothing but a burden when you were fighting Slur, so I was too ashamed. You know, Shin, when Slur provoked me by bringing up Hana, it almost made me lose myself, but you brought me back to my senses. You helped me in more ways than you know. I’m always counting on you. Ah, come on. Can’t you just say that out loud? Anyway, now we have a lead that can help us deal with slur. Come on, Shin. Let’s pay a visit to the JCC. Right. Mr. Shisha, what is it? I think I understand what you were talking about the other day. Huh? It’s annoying when someone destroys your home. You’ve got that right. Destroyed doesn’t begin to cover what happened here. 40% of the KTO bureau. going. JA’s stock prices are plummeting and apparently clients are cancelling requests left and right. Not exactly a good day for us. Wait, do we still get a bonus this year? I wouldn’t count on it. No, don’t be so dramatic. Management’s rethinking things. JAA regulations will probably change a bit. And we lost a lot of our staff, which means we’ll have to do some recruiting. You follow me? This is serious. It’s all hands on deck. So, I’d say it’s about time we got the rest of the gang back here. You mean the other members of the order? Uh-huh. Wonder what Kanaguri’s up to anyway. I really hate that guy. Be nice of Saragi. My work is done. My work is done. Nerve reconnection complete. Try not to move around too much until your circulation is stable. Nerves recover gradually like growing a plant. It’ll take some time for feeling to come back to your fingertips. It’s back. I almost can’t believe it. Thanks a million Kashima. Thank whoever cut it off in the first place. It was incredibly clean, so all the muscle tissue was still alive. Who managed to do that anyway? I don’t imagine many could get a piece of you. Don’t take it too hard, Kaku. I don’t think Mr. Takamura’s ever lost a fight. You’re probably the first to survive. Hey, boss. I see you’ve got your arm back. That’s a relief. Yeah, but he refuses to fix my ear. There are limits to what I can do, you know. You seem tired, master. Yeah, exhausted. Our attack on the JA was a failure. Mr. Takamura was a surprise. If Uda hadn’t blown himself up, there’s a chance we’d be dead. So, what’s up with the crazy old guy? I wish I could tell you. No one knows anything about him. How long has he been a member of the order? What is he to the JA? What is he thinking? Everything about him is a mystery aside from his strength. Truth be told, I must think he’s like Santa Claus, if not some sort of demon, a physical manifestation conjured by collective imagination. You mean some sort of mythological creature that only exists because enough people believe it does? Ah, so he’s like the personification of the blood lust of every assassin. So that’s why he’s so strong. Perhaps there is enough energy in people’s emotions to bring one person to life. But regardless of our belief in ghost stories, once someone like him is involved, we can hardly expect things to go smoothly. Not to mention Sakamoto. Another surprise. I didn’t expect to see you there. So, what’s the next step of your plan now? Do we meet up with the others? Go on a tour across Japan. Ja has branches everywhere, right? [Music] Of course not. A risk like that would be foolhardy at this point. The other branches will tighten security after this. With Udagon, we’re stretched too thin. It’s about time we increased our numbers. You want to see if we can recruit members of the JA? No, I think it’s best we start with fresh blood. Easier to use a blank canvas than paint over existing work. I’ve already started the process. Hey, Mr. Sakamoto, I know you want to go to the JCC so we can get more info on slur, but uh to be completely honest, I don’t actually know anything about that place. I got my license through an aptitude test. Yo, wait a minute. You mean you got in without ever having to go to school? Uh, well, yeah. That’s awesome. Just what you’d expect from a Everything has a fresh expiration date. The floaters put everything back just the way it was. Nagamo must have made a mess in here. I knew you were a genius. Yo, knock it off. The JCC is that special school for assassins. Am I right? Is this it? They actually have a website. JCC Educational Institution. Students live in dormitories, 4-year program, 35 faculty, 1,000 students with a male to female ratio of 8:2. Only 10% of students graduate and become fully licensed assassins. And the other 90% either drop out of the program or die during training. I wouldn’t want to go there. Oh, brings back memories. Yo, can you go to the events page? Hey, boss man, you were one of the students who graduated, weren’t you? Does the schoolled alumni come back and visit? Never. Getting in and out of the JCC is no easy task. Security’s tight. Huh? And how are we supposed to I was just cleaning the living room and I found this sweetie. I want an explanation. Don’t tell me you’re thinking of sending Hana to the school and making her into an assassin. Or not. KCC entrance exam. Admission guidelines for prospective students. Wait, you don’t mean it. Please make sure your seat belt is correctly fastened tightly across your weights. Our estimated time of arrival is about 3 hours from now. Please notify a flight attendant if you need anything at all. We’re seriously applying to be new students. Safest and shest way to get us in. They’ll see right through us. You’re too old. Don’t worry. Take a look around. Huh? You’re right. A lot of these people are older than I’d expect. No age limit to enroll at the JCC. Exam for transfer students like us is a pretty tough one. Some fail several times and we take it every year. That sounds promising. But Mr. Sakamoto, you’re a graduate. Aren’t they going to recognize you? Not if I wear a disguise. You said their security was tight. You can’t just put on a hat and call it a disguise. That’s not going to work. Nervous newbies. They’re way too loud at pres. They’ll be dead soon enough. Wow, those guys look like they’re tough and they don’t seem nervous at all. I can’t whip out now. Somehow, I’ve got to become an assassin. So, about this transfer exam, what level would you say the applicants taking it typically are? Much higher than what you’d see from people taking the basic entrance exam. A lot of these guys are already pros. Can’t let your guard down. Got it. Those guys are stuffing their faces before the test. How many trees is that? That’s not an eating contest. Hey, this must be your first time. Looks like you’re full of energy. You need something, old man? Why don’t you learn some respect, you little punk? Here’s a nickel’s worth of free advice. You’re better off testing on an empty stomach. When you eat too much, you dull your senses, and you need all the help you can get. There he goes, picking on the new piece. He’s the same prick he’s always been. Only one in 40 applicants passes this test. Every year they change everything about it, so no one ever knows what to expect. If you’re not in peak condition from start to finish, you’re dead. Huh? Is that so? Good soup. Like you are always the first to go. I only look forward to watching you die. The lukewarm anyway. You want me to kill him? No. won’t bring back my spaghetti. How awful. Those two are first timers just like me. They must be super nervous. Why would he do that? Stop it. This is not the time to be worried about strangers. If I lose my focus even a little, I’m as good as dead. I’ve got to pass. I’m going to be an assassin. [Music] I still kind of feel bad for them, though. Good luck, newbies. You got this. Good afternoon, JCC applicants. Attention, please. And thank you all for choosing to fly with Kill Airlines today. My name is Mizuno. Before we arrive, I’d like to take a few moments to explain the first phase of your transfer exam. Hidden among the 360 hopeful applicants on board this plane are several undercover test administrators. Each administrator has special bullets delicately inscribed with the letters JCC. Identify an administrator and steal one of their bullets. If they’re running the test, they’re professional hitmen, right? And we have to go up against them. Question. Is it okay if we kill them and we steal their bullets? Go right ahead. That is, of course, if you can. [Music] All right, everyone. Have a nice flight. It’s starting. [Applause] P. I found P. Come look. It’s over. Huh? An airplane. Bye-bye. [Applause] Leave. I’m not an administrator. You can’t fool me. [Music] Your weapons have been distributed entirely at random. It’s up to you to make optimal use of the tools available to you. You got to be kidding. I want something else. I was pissed about the two-headed god. When circumstance puts an assassin at a disadvantage, they are forced to adapt. [Music] No luck with this one either. Gross. Thinking logically, the test administrators are likely JCC teachers and upper classmen, probably in their mid to late 20s. That should narrow down the field. By observing their movements, I should be able to zero in on a target. Morons. No sense in jumping into things right at the start. Smarter to wait until most of them die. Then I can steal a bullet from whoever’s left. How did I miss? You got any of those bullets? No. Okie dokie. Tough to read mind lines when there’s so many people around. They get my head hurt. What the um Let’s see here. Maybe there’s an on button somewhere. Lucky me. An easy target with a big ass weapon. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to. Sawyer, what? You going to die? Huh? He’s still just sitting there. He got a pen. What a useless weapon. Poor guy. With that kind of let that newbie is a goner for sure. Oh, yeah. Focus. I can’t keep worrying about other people all the time. Okay. Who is this guy? Hang on a second. Porky over there is too good. So, does that mean he’s an administrator? He’s got to be the fat guy. Per those bloods are your mine now. [Music] Sir, I think you saved my life. Thank you so much. Huh? He’s one of the administrators. I never even suspected that guy. You fight like a season pro. You have incredible combat skills. Not subtle enough. [Music] Sir, can I shake your hand? That was amazing. As a fellow new guy, I have so much respect for you. You’re an inspiration. I want to fight like you. Okay, I just have to give it my all. Thanks. Good luck. Don’t need all three. Wonder where Shin ran off to. I really appreciate the offer, but I can’t accept this. The thing is, there’s someone I really look up to, and I know if they were in my place, they wouldn’t take it either. Not that I’m anything like them, but still. My parents have always told me I’m too small to be any good as an assassin, and I’d be better off as a housekeeper. If you ask me, you’ll never know until you try. Well, if you’re any indication, I already know that size doesn’t matter. Why did you mean it like that? I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Jeez, you’re so weak. This is all JCC teachers have got. I’m not impressed. I guess those who can’t have to teach. Applicate number four, Mafu Saba. Nice work. I believe you said I could kill you for these, right? Unless I misheard you. Annoying. Stay out of my way, old man. What? Who you call an old man? I’m only 21, you stupid little brat. Well, I’m only 14, so 21 is practically ancient. He’s young, but he’s experienced. Oh, no. Huh? I can’t take it. This is disgusting. I don’t believe this. Seriously, this is harassment. What are you? Some kind of dermop? Why would you have a cup here? Well, for your information, I never wanted to take the transfer exam. If my stupid big brother hadn’t given me the flu right before the regular test, I’d have done that. I bet everyone’s already found their friend groups, too. This sucks. What a clean freak. Kids these days are so weird. I hate getting dirty so much. Germs are gross. I want to stay as clean as possible. So, I’m the type who doesn’t like to get his hands dirty. Hidden weapons so fast. [Music] Stupid kid. Now die. [Music] That does it. I won’t be a burden to Mr. Sakamoto anymore. What just happened? He protected all my movements. [Music] Sorry, buddy. We got to go. There’s someone I really need to catch up to. Uda, I got you a going away present. A beginner’s guide to spying, some canned goods, and a variety of nutritional supplements. That’s very thoughtful, Kashima. This is from me. [Music] A drawing of you with some zenas. You can look up what they mean later. You know, boss is getting better at this. Thank you. Time for me to be off. Gaku, Budda’s about to head out. Don’t you want to wish him farewell? Uh, he’ll be back before long, won’t he? Gaku, where are your manners? Don’t worry about it, Kashima. Hey, when I get back, let’s do karaoke. Good luck. [Music] I’m so bored. Well, I’m only 14, so 21 is practically ancient. Oh no, I can’t take it. This is disgusting. I don’t believe this. What a clean freak. Kids these days are so weird. Germs are gross. I want to stay as clean as possible. Hidden weapons. Stupid kid. What just happened? He predicted all my movements. Sorry, buddy. Got to go. There’s someone I really need to catch up to. [Music] Foolish boy. You should be killing yourself instead of apologizing. This isn’t going to cut it. I’m supposed to be his partner. I need to stand on my own. Mr. Sakamoto, when we take the transfer exam, please don’t help me. Why is that? Because I want to test my own abilities without having to depend on you. Okay, but don’t blow it. I promise I won’t. Just wait and see. I’m going to pass at the top of the class. Huh? What’s with this guy? It’s like he knew what I was going to do before I did it. Coincidence? Yeah, that’s the only explanation. What you waiting for? I don’t have all day. Let’s go. He’s dodging everything I’m throwing at him. What’s the deal? Oh, you think you can counterattack, huh? Well, then watch out. No matter how good his intuition is, if I can grab him, it doesn’t matter anymore. That would have been a great idea. Except I heard that. That hurts. What a pain. Fine, whatever, old man. Just kill me. I’m not going to kill you over a stupid test. Didn’t you tell me you were only 14? Not in the habit of murdering kids. Just give me your bullets and we’re good. Despite being so much older, don’t you think you’re being a bit immature? Even an idiot can see that. Hey, are you crying? Shut up, you stupid jerk. You better pay for those weapons. You broke them. [Music] Oh, give me a break. Are all kids these days so whiny? I failed the test. Oh, come on. Nothing to cry about. Relax, kid. Because you’ve got a lot of talent for a 14-year-old. Talent? Yeah, I know. People tell me that all the time. I just I just want to hit him. So, you don’t need this test. You’re good enough to go straight for your license. So, what? I’m not here for a license. I don’t care. What I really want is to go to the JCC. I have to. That’s the only way to make all the connections I need. So I can get into the order. The order? How do you know about? This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. That’s what I call the hyena technique. Drop dead dorks. Look, if you want to get into the order, having a bunch of connections isn’t really going to help you. What you really need to be in that world is overwhelming power. That’s what it takes. And I’ll have it one day. Who are you anyway? Here. You only need one. That’ll get you through to the next round. See you. Hang on. Hey, wait a minute. It’s okay. I don’t need your thanks. No. This one’s dirty. It has blood on it. I want to trade you for a different one. Okay. You really need to work on your attitude. Oh, come on. I found them in the first place. Fine. You happy now? [Music] This is bad. I’m going to run out of time and I’m no closer to one of those bullets at this rate. I’m going to fail. Huh? Just curious. Who taught you how to use weapons? I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I’m not good at them. to talk a little, but I don’t have the hang of it. Let me show you. Um, okay. When shooting, bending forward is more stable. Arch your back just a little. Press the butt against your shoulder. That’ll keep it steady. Damn it. He shot my scoop off. Rest the handguard on top of your wrist, too. Thank you so much. That was so easy to understand. Hard to believe you’re a newbie like me. I have experience teaching a kid about your age how to shoot. Whoa. Oh, I never asked for your name, did I? Call me Mr. Toro. My name’s Akira. Nice to meet you, Mr. Toro. What? Did I hear what I think I did? Someone’s a good shot. Damn him. Good. Excellent. Your faces are so expressive. The scene is an assassinist. Determined to improve. You will all put your lives in harm’s way. Show me your power. Make it real. You want your performance to move the audience. Let’s add a dash of hope right there. And cut. Such despair. Like that movie Funny Games. I knew it was a good idea to apply to help them administer this test. I’ll score some great footage here. Test takers. This is your captain speaking. Out of 360 participants, 297 are out of commission. That means 63 of you remain. Our ETA is in about 30 minutes. Hopefully, you can enjoy what’s left of the flight. Doubt it though. So, what do you think? Test’s a little different, huh? It’s a disaster. That’s what I think. We’ve never had a test where more than half the administrators died. But not like it matters much to the people flying the plane. Stop following me. Hey, Shin. I was just wondering why are you taking this test anyway? None of your business. Okay. Oh, come on. Don’t be like that. Just tell me. Those are kids. Rookies from the look of it. Why would they choose the life of an assassin at such a tender age? Yeah, but I never asked you to. I just want you to leave me alone. Wow, so testy. Why are you so cringe, old man? I’m not old. Stop calling me that, you little brat. Now we zoom in slowly. Hey, smoother. Please don’t shake the cart. That’s enough. Cut. Very expressive. Nice work. He’s an admin. That who I think it is. The movie director. Kateori. Oh, are you familiar with my work, young man? Who’s this guy? You’ve never heard of Kanaguri? Everybody knows he’s the director, screenwriter, cameraman, producer, and founder of Murder Films. He’s known for his vivid cinematography and realistic portrayal of the lives of hitmen. He’s got diehard fans all over the world. Kate is the man who pioneered the entire genre of assassin films. Get away. You’re slobbering your spit all over me. Okay. So, why is a big shot movie director administering this stupid test? I’d think that’s obvious. Shooting my next film. This atmosphere is perfect for it. Wait, I didn’t give consent for video recording. Shut up. Just ignore the camera. All I want is the natural you. Didn’t you hear what I just said? I don’t see the problem. I’m offering you the opportunity to be a star. Huh? Annoying. Whatever. Let’s go, Shin. Forget about the stupid movie stuff. Hey, what did you say? Movies are all too long and loud. You can’t even skip through the boring parts. I’d rather just watch VTubers on my phone. Plus, the internet can tell you the plot of a movie way faster. How dare you? Enough. No one insults film making in front of me. I’ll kill you. Get out of the way. He’s fast. But if I can read his subconscious, the movements I see are supposed to be predetermined. And yet, how is he changing the future? [Music] Mr. Zakamoto, please. Mr. Don’t move the muzzle when I’m not expecting it like that. What if that bullet had hit someone by mistake? Sorry. Beautiful. That body cuts a distinct silhouette with energy so gentle even in a place of carnage. That face so round. This is my time. The protagonist I’ve been searching for all my life is here. What’s with this guy? And why does he look like such a pervert? It’s done. You’re my star. Huh? A filmmaker must seize their moment. I need a compelling opening. Yes, that’s it. Perfect. All right, let’s run with that. [Music] The stage is set now. Roll camera. I’m so sorry. Oh, man. I can’t keep my balance. Sorry, Shin. Not as engaging as I’d hoped. Scrap it. Too boring. Here we go. This is sure to get the audience on their feet. Oh, great. What’s he going to do now? Ready, set, listen up, assassin, because this is how you make a movie. [Music] Oh, great. These people are done for. Now what are we going to do? Whose fault is this? Is it fun? Hey, it’s not that bad. At least we had enough parachutes for the test administrators, right? I knew this would happen. I told you not to hire that crazy movie director. Huh? Damn. That means it is my fault, isn’t it? Somebody’s going to yell at me. I hate that. Uh, does anybody want to take a heat from me on this? Maybe. Relax, Asami. I have an idea that’ll take care of everything. All we have to do is tell everyone this is part two of the exam. Au, you’re a genius. Perfect. Attention test takers. The second part of the exam starts now. This is all according to plan. In order to pass this section and move on to the next step, you’ll need to land safely with at least one bullet. Good luck. What? Nobody told me anything about skydiving. I’m an administrator and they didn’t give me a bear suit. They’re lying. This was not part of the plan. This is awful. Why isn’t this so wicked? This isn’t fair. Oh, quit complaining about it. 15 times in the past decade, a plane has crashed and people on board survive without a parachute. Given we have enough oxygen to breathe, and our plane was at an average cruising altitude, we’re probably at about 20,000 ft, falling at terminal velocity, 120 mph. We have about 2 minutes to impact. A lot of people would aim for the water, but it has low compressibility. From this height, there’s no difference between the ocean and concrete. That is the worst day of my life. I don’t want to die. Winter whiting. Beautiful. A life or death situation no one could rise. It doesn’t get for real. Our protagonist is faced with disaster. How will she overcome the crisis? It’s incredible. This is hard. [Applause] [Music] Knock the bullets back. Oh, a supporting character who’s quite compelling. Mr. Sakamoto, forget Katari. We got to figure out how we’re going to land. This isn’t just about survival. We need the bullets if we’re going to pass the test. No way. While everyone else is terrified they’re going to die, he’s still thinking about what comes next. Don’t worry, Shane. I’m prepared for anything. Brought my apron just in case. Hey, that’s great. Who needs a parachute when you’ve got that? Mrs. Akamoto, Mr. To refuses to give up. When I look at him, I’m filled with courage. I’m not going to give up either. I’ll pull out all the stops, use every skill I have. So, what do I know how to do? I’m good at laundry, cleaning, all my skills are house chores. Akira, I’m sorry. Could you fix my button for me? Jeez, again, you’re going to be the perfect wife for someone someday. Forget the assassin stuff, huh? I know what to do. Hey, everyone. I need you to take off your clothes now. Hurry. I don’t have time to explain. I need all your I’m in. Why are we doing this? It’s too cold. Stay off. Crystal, who are you? I don’t have many skills, but I do have one. I sow. [Music] [Music] That should do it. This is not enough. We’re barely slowing down. Make sure We’re holding on to that just everyone. We’re headed to the water. There’s nothing we can do. We got to go in feet first. We’re alive. I did it. But you know what? I don’t know how to swim after all that effort. [Music] Right. [Music] Want to go home? I really thought that was it for a minute there. Got water in my shoes. This sucks. I hate everything. I’m going to kill that movie director. You with me? I’ll never watch his movies again. I think that bullet’s for you. But it it’s not mine. I bet if that person you look up to were here, they’d tell you you earned that bullet. Okay, this is great. That means I passed the second part of the test. I got one, too. Look, I didn’t. But at least I’m alive. [Music] Hey, Mr. Sakamoto. Is there something wrong? These stitches. Outstanding needle work. Even under normal circumstances, but under so much pressure and so fast. Who is this girl? [Music] Wow, look at that. The plane crashed. The ones who survived must be pretty strong. I can hardly wait. I haven’t eaten anything but meat buns in forever. Wish I could afford some ramen once in a while. [Music] Where? Yo, welcome back. Huh? What’s that you got there? [Music] Yo, you’re seriously buying that for a,000 yen. Well, it’s an ordinary stone, but honestly, I I think it’s pretty. Yo, this is so great. Now I can afford some ramen. Thanks a lot, Hgate. It’s not often you cheat us to lunch. We’re going delicious. No matter what we’re eating, it tastes better together. Yo, it’s done. You will be my star. Ready, set, [Applause] because this is how you make a movie. Hey everyone, I need you to take off your clothes now. I’m in. I don’t have many skills, but I do have one. I’m so Oh, quite the fast thinker. Our hero has saved the day. That’s what I call cinema. [Applause] I can’t shoot my movie anymore. Now life is meaningless. What’s the point of it all? You think the test is still going on after all that? 2 4 6 Wow, there’s a lot less of us now. Makes me wonder where that stupid movie director ended up. I’m so glad you’re all okay. Honestly, it’s a miracle. I can’t believe any of us are still alive. But we made it this far. So, let’s all pass the test and then we’ll all be in the same class together. Well, duh. I’m not taking this test just to fail. Class? I wonder. Do they have school festivals and stuff? Uh-huh. There’s a sports day and a year field trip, too. Oh. Hey, hey, you got him. Look, I just found a bullet on the beach. That means I passed the second part of the test, too. Who is he? I don’t know. Come on. We came down on the same parachute. Kill him. You throw my head. We’ve lost way too many people. This is bad. It’ll be fine. Most years, only two or three people pass this transfer exam anyway. Let’s try something different for the next part. Something where they don’t all die. Yeah, fair. Administrator Usami, apologies for the interruption. The others should be arriving right about now. Oh, nice. Here we go. Let’s move on to the next stage. Um, attention test takers. Sorry to keep you waiting. Before we get started with the third step of your exam, we’ve got more participants to introduce. Huh? Wow. Awful lot of tension around here. And they all look so big and scary. Quit your yapping. Your voice is painfully shrill. Okay, so there you go. These three will be joining the testing process from this point forward. Special recommendations, Kachi, Toramaru, and Shinaya. Gosh, I’m nervous. I’m Toro. Nice to meet you. What makes him special? Oh, give me a break. You have to be kidding us. We almost died and they could just skip through all of that and they think they can just step right in. You got a lot of nervous you think will stay for that. It was with a cute little jaggly keychain. Free lords like you are the reason. [Applause] Wow. You’ve got to really beg him out. Calm down. Just take a chill pill. Okay. Oh yeah. I guess I should explain why they’re here. Special recommendation means they’re recommended by active pros or agencies, so they don’t need to do the competency tests. Everybody be cool, okay? And Tormaru, this group’s already small enough as it is. Don’t go killing anyone. Okay. Oh, come on, mister. He was making fun of my Sakamoto keychain. He’s my idol. Sakamoto, the legendary assassin. Don’t I remember hearing there’s a bounty on him right now? I guess even Hitmen can have fan girls, huh? Well, that’s just what we need. Don’t get too close. Could be trouble. H. No answer. Aren’t they in the middle of taking the exam? Oh, right. I guess they can’t look at their phones until it’s over, huh? Master, are you sure this is a good idea? Can students so inexperienced be trusted to join our cause? You know what I think? I think young people are the future. They are the ones with the power to change the world. You were a teenager when I met Yukashima. Gaku was even younger than that. Was I really? I can’t remember. I miss my youth. The older I get, the more baggage I have, and the heavier it makes me feel. Our new friends won’t have that problem. They’ll be meaner than a rattler and twice as fast. You’ve been reading again, haven’t you? That one’s from a movie. Okay, stage three of the exam is a team contest. Everyone, please open your JCC bullet. Is this some kind of headband or something? I don’t know. My bullet had a red one. Mine’s yellow. Mine’s blue. Remember your color and tie that around your waist so it hangs down like a tail. Okay, now what? Like I said before, it’s a team competition. Get together with your teammates for a game of tail tag. What is tail tag? Never heard of it. Tail tag is a game where players attempt to steal the tales of the other teams while protecting their own. Your athleticism, intelligence, teamwork, and other abilities will be put to the test in this new sport. It’s a kids game. It’s been around forever. You’re divided into seven teams based on the color of your tail. And the game will last until 2 days from now. Stay in the forest within 10 km from here. If you lose your tail, you’re considered dead and you will fail the exam. It’s kid stuff. Why so tame all of a sudden? It makes perfect sense. It’s a ruse. They’re disguising it as a childish game, but in reality, it’s a training exercise for team survival on professional assignments. In protecting the band on your waist, you’re protecting your lumbar where all your body’s movement originates. If I were to guess, this is an exercise they use for assassins often based on the US military sir training. We’ve got a perceptive one here. That’s exactly right. Actually, we had to tone it down because too many of you died in the first two stages, but that explanation sounds a lot better. You’re just making this whole thing up as we go along. Did you notice that? I know, Mr. Tara. Mr. Sakamoto and I are on different teams. [Music] These two are my teammates. Just straight. That means I have to pull all the weight. I promise I’ll do my best. [Music] Oh, yeah. One more thing. You can use whatever weapons you like. Do whatever you have to to score as many tails as you can before time runs out. [Music] Okay, let’s get started with the third stage of the exam. On your marks, get set, go. Using the terrain to our advantage is the key. We’ll put our base on top of a hill, then start setting traps. Got it. This is fun. It’s just like sports day back at school. Come on, purple team. Let’s go. Yeah, she’s cute. Shoot. Rond at the river upstream. Mr. Sakamoto, right now you and I are opponents. When push comes to shove, don’t hold back. I’m going to give it my all, too. Understood. Are you sure you’re going to be okay with that, Shen? If we tried to team up, we’ just be easier targets. Besides tail number one, here I come. [Music] If you’re always depending on other people, then you’ll never grow. Whatever. It doesn’t really matter to me. [Music] Hey, check this out. What’ you think? I call it the bunny tail. I’d really rather we didn’t cheat. It’s not cheating. It’s fair. They said we had to put it around our waist. No one did anything about it. Mr. Toro, don’t you think that this is Oh no. What’s the matter, Mr. Toro? Mr. Sakamoto, one day I want to be just as good as you are. You think I can do it? I got your back, Mr. Sakamoto. No matter what, I’ll follow your lead. Aren’t you crying? No. I don’t have time for cryb babies. Damn it. That crazy school girl doesn’t want to give up. Who? Me? I’m sorry, but I can’t help it. I love the chase. As long as I’m the one doing the chasing anyway. Oh, no. And I need your tail. If I don’t get it, I won’t have the whole set. I’m a bit of a collector, so it’d kill me if I didn’t have them all. But you already got a green tail. Why won’t you just leave us alone? I know. I can get the other colors for you. Please, you have to let us go. What? You just don’t get it, do you? I’m saving this one. The other one’s for display. They’re so cute. What color should I go after next? Looks like it’s what? There are six other teams and all of them have started gathering tails by now. So, why why are we keeping our peanut up and eating campfire goodies? Because it’s important to get some food in your stomach when you’re feeling down. Did you forget we’re in the middle of a test? Take this seriously. There’s plenty to go around. You’re not even listening. [Music] Gross. What am I even drinking? It’s mugwart tea. Found it growing over there. Next question. What’s with the deluxe cabin? It’s a bungalow. Made it myself. This isn’t a camping trip, kiddo. [Music] Get up. Get it up. Get it up. Get it up. Get it up. What? But it’s only a butterfly. I think they’re pretty. Don’t you? They’re not pretty. They’re gross. They flutter all over the place, and it doesn’t make any sense. No, Mr. Baby. There’s a perfectly good reason why butterflies flutter around like that. They’re following their path. They know why they’re doing it, even if no one else does. Scientists think it has to do with pherommones. Fascinating. Who cares about that? Get this thing out of me. Please. Hold on. What the You know, butterfly wings are extremely fragile. Don’t touch them. How should I know that? I’m not an expert on butterflies. Besides, her movements are quick and delicate. Butterfly didn’t even notice. She must be Akira. Huh? Who taught you how to control your movements like that? The way you handled yourself when we were falling and how fast you were with that butterfly. You’re almost a different person from the one I met on the plane. We were in combat up there. It’s embarrassing, but for some reason, I’ve always been terrible at that. As soon as I look into my opponent’s eyes, it completely frees up. And you want to be an assassin? Well, you don’t have to kill anyone in this part of the test, so you should be fine. That was really nice. Thanks, Phil. Baby, no. It’s kill baby. You guys should probably get running. That crazy girl is chasing me. I’m not going to die over this stupid test. Where are you? Hey, wait up. Stop. That hurt. What’s the big idea? Cables are made of stainless steel. Honestly, I can’t believe how gullible they are. A capable assassin is better than to blindly trust everyone they meet. It’s a good way to die. We’ll get their tails from their corpses. Shoot them. They never would have gotten away from us if it hadn’t been for you. That’s not fair. How is this my fault? Hey guys, we had to go the long way to cross the river cuz you didn’t want to get your feet wet. Well, yeah, but that’s because getting wet again will suck. Uh, guys, this is a survival test. Remember? Oh, that was so cool. Hey, how’d you dodge that anyway? Are you clairvoyant? She’s one of the special recommendations. [Music] Lucky, I wish I’d been put on the white team. It’s my favorite color. That’s why I absolutely positively must get my hands on a white tail. I hate Otarus. How rude. Saying things like that could hurt my feelings. Saka, Mr. Toro, you’re bleeding. I’ve never seen an apron do that before. It won’t give. Stakes must be driven in deep. It doesn’t seem like they’re armed with any projectiles. But they’re pretty stubborn. Agreed. But there’s no need to get impatient. It’s only a matter of time. Why get bitten by a mouse that’s already in a trap? I’m sorry I let you guys down. I mean it. What are we going to do? I guess I fit through. So small. Mr. Taro, Mr. Baby. You have to run. Hey man, they’re going to die. That can’t be helped. No use fighting the inevitable. If you prioritize sparing the lives of your enemies, you’re putting the mission at risk. Besides, as soon as we kill them, we get their tails while eliminating any chance of them retaliating against us. What should I do? We’ll catch up to you now. Get going. I think it’s starting to give. No, I can’t just leave you behind. I have to do something to fight back. I have to I with predators in the animal kingdom, the first to break eye contact is always the weakest. Makes me wonder, are assassins built the same? Oh my kitty. I I can’t. I don’t want to hurt anyone. When something doesn’t feel right, there’s nothing wrong with running. Don’t worry about us. I promise we’ll be okay. Don’t worry so much, Akira. I can take care of myself. No, I refuse to sit back and do nothing while I lose someone I care about again. I have to fight because if I don’t, my friends are going to die. Pull it together, Akira. Open your eyes. If the alternative is losing someone, then I’ll [Music] become an assassin. [Music] Go. [Music] [Applause] Easy, Akira. Calm down. Mr. Taro. Mr. Taro. What did I Don’t speak. A spearhead strike directly to the corateed artery. Severe hemorrhaging and extreme difficulty breathing. Without treatments, he’ll be dead. You didn’t have to do that. We only needed to take his tail. I didn’t mean I wasn’t trying. I’m not like this. I don’t know. I was just I just wanted to save my friends. But then I I didn’t mean I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I was desperate. I saw the path I had to take, so I took it. Hey, Nakamoto Nagamo, you stare down your target real hard, you can see the path you have to take to kill them, right? Wait, really? You’re telling me that’s not normal? Must be Akira. What’s your full name? My full name. It’s Akira. Aka. Why? But in your class, Sakamoto, Nagamo, and Aka were the only names anybody ever mentioned. A co lucky. I wish I’d been put on the white team. It’s my favorite color. I hate otakuis. Yeah, hard pass. Anybody who obsesses over another person is just an escapist too scared to figure out how to live their own life. What was that for? For being annoying. What’ you say? Are you telling me that you reject my way of life? Huh? Nobody talks about my devotion like that and lives. Start running. Yikes. [Music] Let’s get started. Gaku, I hope you’re ready to play your part. Sure, but uh is this game going to be any fun? We’re not here to play games. This is serious business. I have to fight because if I don’t, my friends are going to die. Pull it together, Akira. Open your eyes. If the alternative is losing someone, then I’ll become an assassin. [Music] Easy, Akira. Calm down. Must be Akira. What’s your full name? My full name. It’s Akira Aka. Why? You know the thing about guns? Shooting one is like driving a car. You can tell a lot about a person once they’re behind the wheel. And with you two, let’s just say I can tell you’re the type to get jittery when it’s time to change lanes. Pay up, losers. This is so stupid. What’s so great about being able to hit a target that doesn’t move? No one uses that many bullets in a real fight. You two asked for this contest in the first place. Buy me lunch. You promised you would, or I’ll kill you, [Music] Mr. Taro. Are you okay? I’m curious. Akira, are you related to Rio Nakao? How do you know Rion? You don’t know where she is, do you? And yes, I’m her niece. She’s the reason I’m here. I’m trying to find her. [Applause] Keep it up, boys. Let’s see what you’ve got. I’m getting sick of this. Just help me kill her. [ __ ] Believe it or not, I didn’t come here to kill people. Hey, your special recommendation. Can you get her to stop? No, but uh up ahead. No. Come on, Shin. If we work together, we can kill her easy. I told you I’m not killing anyone. Why can’t you just do it yourself? You were supposed to be a team. Guys, we need to stop. Team back on the plane. You acted like you didn’t need help from anybody. She’s shooting again. Oh dear. It’s cold. You saved us. Thanks, mister. It’s Kajji. Man, this might make me seasick. Wait a minute. Why is that girl so obsessed with Mr. Sakamoto anyway? Deno. Yeah, I think I’m seasick. I can answer that if you really want to know. What are you, a monkey? He’s not just my hero. To me, Sakamoto is a god. I’ll never forget our first meeting. I thought my heart was going to stop. His fighting style was so dynamic, but emotionally detached. Until then, I was always so unsure of myself. He was like a different species. I wanted to find a theme song for him. So, I learned to enjoy music. I dyed my hair and learned how to do my makeup because I wanted to look good for him. I didn’t know those things could be fun. I practiced making conversation so I’d be able to talk to him one day. So, I made a lot of friends. My whole world got brighter. And it’s all thanks to him. That’s why anyone who criticizes my devotion has to die. [Applause] Jeez. Care to jump in here? Mafuyu, I can’t. I’m seasick. You got to be kidding. Come on, dude. All right, fine. Let’s go. I’ll fight you. Wait a sec. The way you just cracked your shoulder to get ready. That’s Sakamoto’s warm up before every fight. Huh? You If you’re imitating such a fine detail, are you the Sakamoto fan, too? Huh? That mean you’re an otaku show? Damn it, he figured me out. No way. This is great. I’ve never met another Sakamoto lover before. Tell me, what do you love about Sakamoto the most? I love how cool and calm he always is. He doesn’t have any emotions at all. He’s just a total killing machine. I think that’s the coolest. Don’t you? You’re mistaken. Huh? But I understand how you feel. I used to feel the same way. Except he’s not like that now. No matter how bad the store is doing, he always takes care of us first. He’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Wait, what are you talking about? The thing is, everyone always says he’s the strongest assassin ever. Everyone always relies on him. Who does Mr. Sakamoto have to rely on? My admiration won’t hold me back. Not anymore. From now on, I’ll stand next to him. I’ll be his friend and a true partner. How dare you? Listening to the way you talk about him, it’s almost like you believe you know Sakamoto better than I do. Like you think you’re his number one fan, not me. That’s not right. You are so so so so annoying. I didn’t know I could be this angry. No, it’s not anger. It’s something else. I won’t share him. He has once again bestowed me with the gift of a new emotion. Thank you, Sakamoto. They are in the way. Do you think Sakamoto needs a partner? They’re so wrong. It’s offensive. That Toro girl is in another level. Guess that’s to be expected, though. Yeah, she’s a special recommendation like you are, Shanea. And you already grabbed three tails. Keep kicking ass for us. K. Who is it? Where? Huh? Hey, what are you doing, dumbass? Put it back. You’re going to get yourself disqualified, and we need you. Shinaya [Music] Impressive. None of my attacks are landing. You’re predicting everything I do. Maybe you are clairvoyant. Imagine. Anyway, if all you know how to do is dodge your display of a sac. This is great. She’s got a big weapon and knows how to use it. Oh no, Shin. Looks like he could use some help down there. But I still don’t feel so good. I wonder. Maybe I should lend him a hand. Except what would I even say? Yo, I’m here for you, bro. No, that’s way too much. He’s just going to think I’m trying too hard to force a new friendship. Maybe I jump in without saying anything. That’s more natural, right? I know. I’ll wait to help until he asks me to. Kanji, no one on earth is more shy. For now, maybe I rub this guy’s back. Could you not touch me, please? [Applause] I knew You like to counterattack, huh? Know how to beat that. I just have to take you out in one go. [Applause] This girl’s pretty tough. Damn it. Think. What would Mr. Sakamoto do? No, it’s not about what he would do. My build and my abilities are totally different from his. I have to find my own way to win this. Come on, figure it out. What can I do? Give it up. You’ll never catch up to Sakamoto. What was that? I can take weak little punches like that all day. What are you? [Music] Fish can’t swim up that waterfall. I was hearing a bunch of them thinking about it. Using your surroundings to your advantage are Mr. Sakamoto’s specialty. I just have to take you out in one go. So much for that. I should probably go find the others. [Music] What the I can’t breathe. Oh crap. Oh, found her. She’s drowning because her doll got stuck. Damn, that’s one hardcore fan. [Music] [Applause] Sakamoto. So glad you’re okay. Next time you’re on your own. Wait, you? Why didn’t you just let me drown? Because I understand exactly how it feels to look up to Mr. Sakamoto. Besides, I know he wouldn’t have left you to die either. Simple as that. [Music] You can have it. Huh? I’m letting you have it. You can take the title of his number one fan. I don’t need that. Why not? You can be president of the fan club. You can tell me what you want. I’ve got an idea. Please take the doll. That’s not what I want. Just give me your tail. [Music] Huh? [Music] [Applause] Should have known it was going to lag. Well, I guess I’ll pretend it’s an old FPS. Shouldn’t be a problem. Let’s start scouting these kids. [Music] Hey, Shen. Love you. Ki, who the hell is this dude? New guy. Special recommendation. Huh? [Music] I feel like I’ve seen that one somewhere before. Can’t remember where. Gaku, this is a scouting mission. You need to take it seriously. Yeah, but they’re probably all weaklings anyways. Come now. At least give them a chance. Boss, be patient. They’re your potential colleagues. Caution. This thing’s actually pretty cool. Would you call it VR? Little more hands-on than a drone, too. Wait a minute. It’s busted. It’s not letting me move. That’s because you have to wear the goggles. Well, can you put them on for me? For me? Good grief. Oh, okay. Applicant 208. She How do you say that? Shaya. Yeah, Shaniah. You broke the rules, so you’re disqualified. Wait, he broke the rules? What’d he do? He sure didn’t put up much of a fight when they grabbed him. Like I said right at the beginning, if you lose your tail, you’re dead. No zombies allowed. [Music] Ah crap. When we were walking through the forest, we came across the bodies of four applicants. Got to ask, were you the one who killed him? Be honest. There are two fundamental qualities every assassin has to have. That’s love and discipline. The JCC has no place for people who kill for pleasure. Have some respect for the professionals. This isn’t a game. It’s what we do for a living. We’re not here to play. What’s the matter? Nothing. School teachers are just really good at pissing me off. Well, we’re not going to kill you for now. We need to just put you in timeout at least so the test is done. Found a weapon. Shoot him. This kid’s pretty good. I thought I told you to learn some respect. [Applause] [Music] Okay, this guy’s crazy. Well, so much for this year’s test. You should save yourselves. You’re young. You still got your futures. [Music] Come on, Shin. You heard the guy. Let’s go. I’ll catch up later. If I don’t step up and fight right now, then I don’t see a future where I get stronger. You uh have a death wish, am I right? [Music] Oh no, that last fight. I overdid it. [Music] What’s happening? We can’t let you have all the fun. We’re in this together. Thanks you guys. This is fun. Looks like new challengers appeared. Game on. I wonder how the boss man’s big test is going. It’s Toro and Shen. They’re doing great. I can’t help but worry. I hope he’s eating at least a little healthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s nothing but instant ramen. For all we know, he could be eating snakes or grasshoppers right now. Yo, guys, that’s really gross. We gathered all the wild vegetables you asked for, Mr. Taro. We found a whole bunch of them. Great. Thanks. [Music] [Music] This is delicious. Yeah, probably pretty good for you, too. Camping always makes me feel like cooking. What’s the matter? Nothing. School teachers are just really good at pissing me off. Okay, this guy’s crazy. You should save yourselves. You’re young. You still got your futures. Come on, Shin. You heard the guy. Let’s go. I’ll catch up later. Huh? If I don’t step up and fight right now, then I don’t see a future where I get stronger. We can’t let you have all the fun. We’re in this together. Thanks you guys. Damn it. That didn’t feel good. I don’t get it. Why can’t I read this guy’s mind? Suddenly, they’re in a battle again, and I’m too late to join in. I wonder who exactly is this man? [Music] Is he asleep? No, he can’t be. [Music] That sounds like some kind of machinery. There’s more to this than meets the eye. But if I shout, “This guy’s asleep,” they won’t believe me, will they? I don’t want them all to think I’m crazy. And if I’m wrong, it’ll be so embarrassing. [Applause] [Applause] catch. [Music] So close. [Music] Did somebody hit him in the head? Was it me? No. Maybe I did. That hurts. What in the world are you doing, Gaku? Relax, Kashima. The battlefield’s just a little smaller than it looks. Uh, what’s he doing? He looks like a mine. Should we hit him now? Try not to push Shinaya too hard, will you? Okay, now that you mention it, where’d you find this remote control standard anyway? He’s been asleep the whole time. Just a kid who needed some part-time work. Oh, finding the right person wasn’t easy. There aren’t very many day laborers with the flexibility to pull off your movements. Surprised you found one. I put up a job posting on the internet. Why don’t we just do that to find all of our new recruits? Interviewing potential candidates directly is crucial. Gaku, the master says that human resources are our greatest asset. Okay. Okay. Let me get back to scouting then. I’ll just dish out as much pain as I can, and anyone who survives gets the job. [Music] Get away. [Music] Let’s go. Where’d the other one go? [Music] If I don’t step up and fight right now, then I don’t see a future where I get stronger. Hey, let’s get [Music] I’m always going to resent you for this, Shin. Why’ you have to go and say something like that? I don’t get it. I’m always so afraid of making a mistake that I freeze up. I end up not doing anything. But they don’t even hesitate, even in the face of someone so dangerous. You’re having trouble walking? Can I offer you a lift? [Music] So dirty. [Music] They’re just here to take the test like me. And they’re getting trumped, but they keep trying. How are they so cool? I’m so ashamed. Uh, sorry, but I’m actually kind of clairvoyant. And I didn’t really mean to, but I could hear all of your whining. Look, if you’re going to be ashamed anyway, you might as well try something. Don’t you think that you’d feel better? Yeah. I hope so. Anyway, I have an idea. Just follow all my lean. Follow all. What a big dear. Oh, hi cutie. Scared me for a second. All the animals are acting strange. Shin, you okay? Hey, Kosima. I can’t see to my left anymore. Gaku, please be careful with that. It’s no use. I can’t read his mind for some reason. I’m pretty sure someone’s controlling him remotely. They’re probably a long ways away from here. Huh? Wait, how can you tell? From the sound. I can hear voices talking to each other through a speaker and his goggles. You can How can you possibly hear that? This just got interesting. Kashima, who’s this guy? He’s coming. I knew it. His movements have a slight delay. That means we can dodge him. We fell into a cave. Perfect. sound carry. Hey, what gives? How did you dodge that attack? And what’s this about a delay? I uh did I say that out loud? I told you I can hear your thoughts. That’s why people call me a clairvoyant. Seriously, I forgot. I’m sorry. That’s so That’s really not what you should be worried about. Yeah, you’re right. I think there’s a critical defect in the device controlling Shania. That latency. What are you talking about? It’s quiet, but I can hear the movements of the operator through that speaker. When whoever they are throws a punch, for example, Shaniah moves about half a second later. By taking that delay into account, I can predict his movements. On my own, dodging is about all I can do. But with your help, I think I can’t hear the speaker. But you can hear my thoughts. Oh, yeah. If I can read your mind, then we can, right? Together we can do this. Forward. What happens? You’re supposed to read my thoughts so you can dodge. It’s no use. By the time Kaja thinks through the move, it’s already too late. He’s coming. He’s too hot. What are they doing? I kind of expected them to try to attack me. It’s not working. Damn it. What do we do now? That last one hurt a lot. I can’t move. Come to think of it, this isn’t the first time I’ve done something like this. The theme park. I was blinded by that guy’s poison, but Mr. Sakuro could see what he was going to do. And he used his thoughts to tell me how to react. I didn’t realize it then, but that was really impressive. [Music] If only God could think a little faster. If only he were more like Mr. Sakamoto. No, that’s not the answer. I’d say you couldn’t last more than 5 minutes, even on your best day. But if you want to die, do whatever you like. Waiting around for instructions isn’t going to cut it. It’s time for me to take some initiative. Who cares about limits? Huh? Okay. I just have to look into Kajji’s future. My eyesight’s starting to get blurry. I know how long I can do this. Hey, Kashima, help me out. Hold on to this for me, won’t you? Goku. All right, this is fun. Hey, buy me as much time as you can. Huh? Okay. Hey, Kaji. Are you going to help me or you just going to I’ve got it. Huh? I know his sounds. That punch was like like mine. I know your sounds. Now they belong to me. Just from the sound. He can recreate someone else’s attacks perfectly. I almost forgot he’s a special recommendation. Just like Tormaru. Wait a minute. Why didn’t you pull this trick out of your sleep at the beginning? It takes a lot of concentration. I didn’t have a chance until you distracted him for me. All based on sound. Ridiculous. We can just put some music on to cover it up. No thanks, Kashima. Your playlists aren’t any good. They’re always so moody. What? We just have different tastes, that’s all. Remember karaoke? How dare you insult my curated collection of Heyay era heads. Besides, this just started to get good. No need to waste it. Keep at it. Don’t let up. He’s trying to regroup. But he can’t. I can hear the room he’s in echoing through the speaker. His space is limited. We’ve almost got him. One more step back to the right and he’s out of room. Not quite yet. You figured that’s what you were going to do. After the impact of the wall, you’ll have to stop moving just for a moment. Well, sorry. Kashma, I’m afraid I’ve got a break. Hinaya. [Music] Oh no. Kaku, stop. [Music] [Music] I can’t beat him. We’re going to die. Mr. Zakamoto, how you feeling? Shin, you good? Hey, I know this guy. That’s Taro Sakamoto. What’s he doing here? Gaku, that man is the former legendary assassin. Yeah, I ran into him at the JA. I was hoping I’d get the chance to fight him. Let’s do it. I take it this was your doing. Shin, take him and get out of here. Once again, I’m just No, it’s not like that. [Music] I’m trusting you to handle it. [Music] Got your back, Mr. Sakamoto. An underground river. Mr. Sakamoto. [Music] Gaku, what are you doing? I’m swimming. [Music] [Music] That’s the plane we came here on. Huh? I can’t move. You dare to lay a finger on any of my friends and you’re going to get deported. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Applause] [Music] I can see why the boss is worried about him. If I don’t kill this dude right now, he’s going to be more trouble later. What’s his next move? [Music] Well, it’s been fun. [Music] The sun’s bright today. What’s happening? I’m being enveloped by a feeling of security. Who’s treating my wounds? They’re so quick with bandages. It’s amazing. almost as good as Sakamoto there. Huh? No way. It can’t be. That should do. Who are you? Uh, due to unforeseen circumstances, we’re not going to be able to finish. So, we’re going to end the test right about now. That means we have to determine whether you passed or failed based on your scores till this point. Jerk. Applicant number two. Number four, Mafu Yuseba. Number 120, Akira. Number 247, Nao Tormaru. Number 328, Joichiro Kachi. Number 342, Shin Aakura. And number 343, Taro Sakamoto. Congratulations. The seven of you passed the test. Huh? Wait a minute. Am I crazy or did he just say Taro Sakamoto? Well, that’s a load off. Mhm. That poor man. He’s got the same name as a god. I got to ask, what’s the legendary assassin doing here? Just a little business. I can’t believe I didn’t recognize you. I guess it is my first time seeing you in person, but I never imagined Taro Sakamoto would have put on so much weight. [Music] What is Taro Sakamoto doing here? Why is he just a fandom? I don’t understand this feeling. I finally got to meet him again after all those years. But now, am I disappointed? I’m supposed to love him no matter what. Am I not a real fan? Am I just a shallow, superficial bandwagon jumper who only cares about Larks? H kids still got a lot to learn. Well, the school year starts in 3 months. Between now and then, be sure to fill out all your paperwork. And if you’re currently attending another school, make sure to get all your credits transferred. You awake, Shania? Where am I? Once the JCC helicopters get here, we’ll hand you over to the association. If you ask me, we’d be better off just killing him. My whole body hurts. What the hell? What’s going on? Where are you? Don’t play dumb. Do you know how many you killed? What are you talking about? I don’t know. Last thing I remember, I was interviewing for a job I found online. And I only went because I need to pay off my stupid student loans. Did you do nothing? What do you think? Nothing he’s saying is a lie. From what I’m hearing, he really is just a clueless idiot. Should have known better than to trust that creepy looking deerhead guy. Did you say deer head? He was one of the dudes from the job. There was a weirdo wearing a deer mask and a good-looking guy with white hair and a white suit. Slur. Why would he mess with the test? All right. Is there anything else you can tell us about them? Uh, you can look through my phone. Looks like they deleted our whole conversation. So, I did get paid. I overheard them saying something about scouting. Kaiji, two people were talking to each other in that room. Sounded like they were trying to find new recruits for the criminal organization. That’s why they chose to infiltrate. I couldn’t tell if they found a candidate they considered viable, though. If they’re looking for new recruits, I wonder what they’re planning. It feels eerie. It doesn’t matter. Our only course is to move forward as planned. Head to the JCC and look for a lead on Slur. You bet. Sakamoto was taking the test. Yes. I don’t like it. With all due respect, why do we need to worry about him in the first place? Because Sakamoto knows who I am. Now that we’ve been reintroduced, he knows that Slur is Usuzuki. Whenever someone starts digging up your past, it feels embarrassing, don’t you think, Kashima? I want you to get rid of any record the JCC still has on me. Understood, Master. Though, of course, if Gaku hadn’t gone and broken Shinaya, that task would be significantly easier. What’s the big deal? I thought this was just a scouting mission. How’d that go, Gaku? Find anyone? There were two that might be decent. You all need to be taken for a medical exam before you’re released. You’ll board the helicopters in pairs. Hey, um, Mr. Tro Akira, I just wanted to say thank you. If you had not been around here to help me, there’s no way I would have passed this test. See you at school. Maybe you can tell me more about Rion when we’re there. Sure. I am really looking forward to having you all as classmates. Yeah, me too. Yeah, me too. Mafuyu, you’ve been awfully quiet. Feeling okay after that fight with Shania? Yeah, don’t worry. I’m just fine now. Maru Mafuyu Seba, we’re ready for you. See you around, Shin. Why is he acting so cold all of a sudden? I wasn’t expecting that. I thought he was going to get all emotional on me. [Music] Let’s get you on board. [Music] So long, you guys. See you soon. You’re looking a little pale over there. Yeah, why’ I have to get paired with you anyway? I don’t know. Maybe we live close to each other. A boy and girl shortly after battle. The blue sky stretches before them. They turn their minds to the coming journey, hearts brimming with hope. However, little do they know. Despair is all that exists on the path ahead. Oh no, you again. What do you mean? Where do you know this guy from? We’re getting out of here. You don’t get to call the shots around here. You don’t have a sweet tooth, do you? Calm down, Carolina Reaper. Spicy. I’m trusting you to take care of them. There are special new friends after all. They’ll be accompanying us from now on. This job is really starting to get on my nerves lately. They’re giving us all the assignments. Tell me what happened to that idiot Kanaguri. Shooting a movie somewhere would be my guess. And skipping the work. So, Mr. Shishabot, why don’t we fire him? I’d love to if I could. I’ll never understand why the top brass hired him in the first place. I heard he got in a big fight with a member of the order over filming a movie and he killed them. Then he got hired to take their place. I see no order around here at all. [Music] Hi there. Three Killer Lotto scratch cards. Sure. That’ll be 900 yen. Here you go. If you win, we’re splitting it 50/50. Do you have to make that joke every time? We all know you can’t win anything with these cards. Mr. Shisha, can I borrow a coin? Just use your fingernail. Come on, don’t be so cynical. Let’s see. Oh, Kyoto. Assassin’s being killed. X left at the scene every time. Sounds like Slur’s at it again. We better investigate. I got the same thing. Why does it always have to be Slur? And now he’s in my hometown. I’m real sick of this guy. He’s not going to stop coming until the JA is destroyed. What happens to us if there’s no JA? Unemployment. Is that all you care about? If the JA falls, that would be the end of Japan. The whole country would be overrun by criminals. There are still police. You know what the arrest rate is for Japanese police? About 30%. Yeah, and that number is inflated because it’s only based on the cases they know about. Reality is probably closer to 10%. Does that mean we killed the remaining 90% of all criminals? Well, we don’t deal exclusively with criminals. We kill whoever we’re hired to. We kill bad guys, so we’re heroes of justice. I wouldn’t say that. Huh? Good and evil have no part in what we do. Besides, if you ask me, the one thing that’s worse than evil is a fanatical sense of what’s right. I won. Huh? Huh? Oh, so you can win. I thought they were just assignments. I told you not to be so cynical. How much did you get? 20 grand. Lunch is on you then. It’s my ticket. I bought it with my own money. No, Nagamo bought it. I watched him. With the ferocious battle over, our heroes have passed the test. But now they’ve been mysteriously abducted. In such a desperate situation, what is the boy thinking? Die already. And cut. Too cliche again. Rolling on take 39. Set. Kanaguri, could you wrap it up? You can’t just do whatever you fancy around here, Kanagori. After all, this isn’t the JA. How much time are you going to waste filming this [ __ ] I need you to be quiet. Extras don’t have any lines. [Music] Quit trying to drag everybody else into your stupid worthless hobby, you [ __ ] The value of filming cinematic moments is priceless. Unlike the life of a [ __ ] like you. Big brother, there’s an easier way to settle this. You want to hit someone, hit me. Kakuri can film a scene where you torture your defenseless little brother in front of everyone. Then everyone gets to play. My movies are more tasteful than that. Oh, sure. You look for any excuse to get tortured. If that’s what you want, then you’re not allowed to breathe until I say so. Oh, please. I swear it’s like hurting cats with you people. What’s with these freaks? Toamaru Mafuyu, I imagine you’re wondering why we brought you here. Rest assured, there’s nothing to fear. We mean you no harm. That’s a little hard to believe after the way you’ve treated us. Our organization is working toward a specific objective. Right now, we’re in the process of recruiting promising young assassins to build our ranks. You two have been identified as potential candidates. And what is this objective? Obliterating the JA. How come? Ah, good question. The simplest answer is that we want to restore the world to its natural order for the sake of the greater good. We also have a generous benefits package. two days off per week, no overtime, and guaranteed employment for the rest of your life. Then what happens if I say no? If you refuse. [Music] Oh yeah, you have my permission to start breathing again, Club Jam. Wow, that’s crazy. I knew it’d be difficult, but I wasn’t expecting that. But yo, you did it. I knew you could do it. Slur getting involved wasn’t a part of the plan. That surprised me. Thought it’d be a simple test, so that’s on me. I’m so jealous. Yo, JCC’s got a bunch of special events. You’re going to have so much fun. That’s great and all, but we’re not going there to play and have fun. We’re there for one reason, to get into the JCC database. Hopefully, that’s going to get us the intel we need on Slur. Yeah, but if you’re going to be there anyway, you might as well make some friends, right? Well, now that you mention it, I guess I did meet a kid who Daddy, you got mail. It says JCC on it. Yo, what is it? Oh, this must be the exam results. Wa, that says you finish at the top of the whole class. Yo, and everyone knows that test is super tough. I knew your hard work would pay off one day. Wow, way to go, Shin. Yay, Sid. Maybe I am getting stronger just a little bit at a time. Wait, if Shen plays number one, then boss man. Says I failed. Yo, Charo, did you forget to put your name on it or something? Everybody makes mistakes sometimes. I guess you did your best, Daddy. Oh dear. Maybe I have been feeding him too much lately. This must be a mistake. No way. Mr. Shakamoto Field. I’m going to get to the bottom of this. Shin’s complaining. Oh, yeah. Regulations. Sorry. What do you mean? You are the one who told us he passed. Yeah, I kind of got caught up in the moment. My bad. Huh? But I’m looking at it right here. There’s a bounty on his head. And JCC regulations clearly state that means he’s disqualified. What a bunch of crap. I’m going to head down there and knock some sense into these people. Yeah, maybe he’s saying this a little too hard. Don’t worry. There’s an easy solution to this, eh? What? Nagamo, where’d you come from? I just dropped in and heard you took the JCC transfer test. You’re such an it interesting guy. You know that, Sakamoto. You were about to say a very different word. You failed the test, didn’t you? Okay, let’s just calm down, please. Nagamoto, tell us what your easy solution is. Isn’t it obvious? You can’t go in as a student. Be a teacher instead. What? a teaching internship. I did some research as I was prepping for the opportunity to infiltrate the JCC for myself. But I’m taking a trip to Kyoto with some friends, so I can’t. Now I need someone to take my place. Actually, that’s a pretty good idea. I can snoop around as a student while Mr. Sakamoto does the same as a teacher. Except only one problem with that. JCC won’t let me in because of my bounty. Idiot. Obviously. But I never said it had to be Sakamoto. [Music] You mean me? Japan Clear Creation commonly known as the JCC, a Japanese assassin training institution. Approximately 1,000 students are enrolled with year-round boarding and a 4-year curriculum. Due to the extreme training regime, many students die before graduation. However, those who excel can earn their assassin’s license upon completion of the program. In other words, when it comes to training to become a hitman in Japan, no other institution compares to the JCC. Oh no, this place is so big. I got lost. Make way. Coming through medical office. Nothing in there. Yet another serious training injury. Isn’t that the 10th one this month? That one looked even worse. If you can’t keep up, you die pretty quick. Now, when you’re out on assignment, the enemy’s eyes are always on you, and time is a limited resource, which means you always want to inflict a mortal wound with minimal effort and try not to leave a mess, which can be used at the scene. Those should always be your top priorities. Better late than never. Let’s get a couple of you up here to give us a demonstration. How about student number 13, Tanishy, and uh the girl who just tried to sneak in without me noticing? This is close quarters combat, not stealth class. Got it. I’m dead. So, let’s start with the basic movements of close quarters combat. Try to land some body blows while you redirect your opponent’s attacks. Start slowly for me. K. He’s huge. Seriously, she’s so small. I could break her like a twig. You try not to die. You can take turns between attacker and defender. I want you to remember it’s a real knife, so be cautious and take it slow. What if I just give her a little scare? Okay, I can take it slow. Hey, I said, I’ve seen that move before. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention. Starting today, I’ve got a teaching intern that’ll be helping out around here. And there, that’s it. Mr. Sakamoto, looks like that’s so amazing. You’ve transformed into a completely different person. Turn me back to normal right now, Nagamo. Oh, look at the time. Got to run. By the way, that disguise will last for 24 hours. If I were you, I’d find the database before then. Best of luck, Sakamoto. You’ll pay for this, Nagamo. I bet Sakamoto’s having fun. What do you mean? What’s Mr. S up to? He’s interning as a hot teacher. What? Come here, Nazki. Where are you? I know you’re in here. Huh? Who the hell are you? Never seen you before. Hold on. I think I know what this is. It’s one of those school tropes where the upperassman totally bullies the new kid. This is great. I was just in the middle of the one where you skip class to smoke in the men’s room. But I have always wanted to do this one. You think you’re funny or something, you [ __ ] you little [Applause] Oh, yeah. And the part that comes next is where I say, “Please just let me go.” Oh well. Time to find that intel or slur. [Music] [Music] Seems like you need some educational guidance. Don’t be too flashy. Stop worrying. You forget my assassin’s license is gold. It doesn’t matter how dangerous it is. I’m not going to let anything happen to the people I care about. That’s what I came here for. Now, time for a few memories to be erased. [Music] We’re going to [Music] [Applause] [Music] morning. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] Now our mirror with it. [Music] you [Music] never [Music] know.
