Did Digimon Beatbreak Just Bring Back A LOST Digivolution?

Digimon Beatreak finally got a new evolution this week. And I say finally, we’re only 10 episodes in. I feel like everyone needs to calm down a little bit. But technically, actually, kind of sort of. We got two evolutions this week if you think about it. What is up, digital companions? My name is Khan Ex, and I think I’m coming down with a cold, so forgive me. Digimon Beatreak is honestly so far a Digimon anime that I am super enjoying which I wasn’t really in comparison when we talk about Ghost Gamer Adventure 2020. In fact, the last time a Digimon season really had me gripped like this might have been Data Squad. While yes, it’s lacking the hype moments and aura every week of a brand new evolution or something like that that other seasons have had. It makes up for it in a genuinely compelling overarching narrative with questions being answered every week. But because Gecko didn’t dig evolve in episode 3, it’s a slow season. Listen, here’s my two cent. If you want to see more dig evolution and stuff like that, that’s valid. That’s an okay thing to want. However, I am much more concerned with a rewarding narrative payoff of a show, a show that I enjoy watching every week that rewards my investment with a good payoff that doesn’t have to be a digolution sequence. Of course, the evolution sequences are hype, but I actually think I enjoy them more when they’re not constant, when they’re earned through the narrative, just like this one was because yes, last week, Kirupmon, Makoto’s partner, fell into the hands of another tamer, Haro, who is this like spoiled brat kid, very complicated. This is what I love about this show is even a kind of character of the week or I guess two weeks like Haraco and her partner Shadmon are given such complexity that I love. Also, Kio rocking her dad’s cinema. I’m not really going to be the type to break down every single episode here cuz I’m just enjoying it so much. I know my pal Cory, the Digino, is not breaking down every single episode, but is kind of doing batches. So, if you want more of a look into the narrative of this show, episode reviews, etc. I would go check out my boy, the Digi Know. Thank you. Also, while you’re here, we are coming towards 100,000 subscribers. We are less, as of time of recording than 1,700 away. It’s so close. If you could subscribe, it would be a Christmas miracle. Thank you. But yes, the big thing this week is that Kyropmon through its bond with its partner Makoto did evolved to Knight Kirmon. And what an interesting design. Not one I saw coming for Kirman. I was expecting much more of a bat or vampire thing. It is a little funny as sets in a drawers pointed out on blue sky that we recently made a monodon bond of redemption for our tamers bond video which a lot of people missed. If you want to go check that out, the card is on screen right now. And wow, it looks so similar to Night Kirmon. Night Kirromon could very believably dig evolve into this guy. I also saw a lot of people making just comparisons which yeah makes sense given that was a monogrammon bond for night kopmon looking like a maybe just pre-evolution but honestly if we’re going to talk toku if I have to the thing it most reminded me of actually was the shadow ranger. Anyway, as it is a brand new Digimon, it did get a Digimon encyclopedia listing. Knights Kopmon is a champion, Beastman, virus Digimon with the special moves, Providence Scan, Shadow Arts, Giant Rang, which is such a funny name because it’s meant to be like giant ring. It sends out a giant ring as well as of course being a boomer rang, but it also rang out. The sound rang out, but then also rang is like slang for a ring. Put a rang on that finger. Hilarious. And then Mesma Burst, a Beastman Digimon that wears a full body stealth suit. While this Digimon specializes in nighttime reconnaissance and information gathering, it also excels at close quarters combat using agile martial arts. The suit covering its entire body is anti-reflective, muffles sound, and suppresses body heat emissions. This makes Knight Kuropmon nearly impossible to detect when operating at night. Its helmet is equipped with ultrasonic echolocation capabilities and a sensor that can detect the full electromagnetic spectrum, so nothing within its surroundings goes unobserved. I think that’s really interesting because while it doesn’t specifically state this as while Digimon will have very specific forms to a season, usually their Digimon encyclopedia listing will instead be more generic and not reference a specific tamer, for example. But to me, this very clearly feels like the connection Kirupmon has with Makoto’s technology, his scanners, his goggles, etc., reverting back and going back into the Digimon for dig evolution. Knight’s Krupmon’s abilities seem geared toward military applications, suggesting it may have imported leaked developmental data from a certain mechanized brigade of the digital world where digolving. So yeah, that’s referencing the D brigade almost certainly. However, even though they use the word brigade there, I would say the crack team are more suited to its military reconnaissance stealth suit type stuff if we think of Digimon like Invisimon who are in the crack team. In combat, Knight Kuropom will first use its helmet’s full capabilities when performing Providence scan to analyze its target down to their internal data. Once the analysis is complete, it uses giant rang to unleash a range slashing attack with the massive boomerang on its back or moves in close and pinpoints its targets weak points with the ultra quick strikes and kicks of its shadow arts ability. You know what? Maybe this is based on the shadow ranger. Additionally, Night Kmon uses Mesma Burst to fire ultrasonic waves from its fingertips which cause temporary paralysis. It can send out these waves from all fingers on both hands. So, it can use that messma burst in a very similar way that its rookie Kiriopmon can use its paralyze echo. It loves to paralyze people. It’s such a different design than I was expecting for Kuropmon. Like I said, you can still see those kind of like midnight blues and pinky reds in the design. It does lose a toe on the front for some reason when it digs and becomes very humanoid, which I actually think makes sense specifically for this season beat. We see the rookies being very like basic animals. geckos, tanukis, bats, but specifically in the evolutions we’ve seen already, they do gain very humanoid forms. And this is a theme in Digimon in general. The reason why so many mega Digimon become basically humans in armor or clothing or whatever is because of that bond with humans, making Digimon more like their human partners. We’re just seeing it a lot sooner in Beatreak. Wolveron is a much more humanoid Digimon and indeed has attacks featuring words like tomboy, which are very gendered language because it’s taking on traits from its tomboyish partner. Same with Corruptmon. It’s gaining all this tech that Makoto uses and becoming like a boy, a humanoid form just like Makoto. You can even see this with Kugamon whose default is a champion level a level higher. And yet, as soon as it actually digolves, we obviously haven’t seen the rookie yet. As soon as it digs to ultimate, it gains much more humanlike traits, mimicking or mirroring its partner, Ko. There is a bit in the next time of this episode which to me looks like it could finally be a Geckoon evolution. Though I have a suspicion it might be another bait and switch. I’m hoping it’s an evolution, too. And I do think it’s quite likely we’re going to see Geckomon become more humanoid, much like all the other partners in this season so far. However, I did say there was technically a second Digivolution this episode, didn’t I? And no, I was not talking about Geckoon in the preview. I was talking about Shademon during the episode. And this has not been put up on like the encyclopedia or anything like that. Shademon merges with its partner Haro to become this like Shademonwinged dark girl form. But Haraco is still very much at the core here. Now yeah, sure that might not be a dig evvolution, but what is a dig evvolution at the end of the day. If a biomege in tamers counts, I would count this too. And I think it was very intentionally a reference to Shademon N version. a version of Nene from the Digimon Crosswarss manga who merged biome merged with her Shademon. We haven’t actually seen this leave. I guess you can call this Crosswarss manga jail. However, Luminon NA version, the evolution of that Shademon NA form, has been seen since, specifically in the TCG. And Luminon NA version even got a reference book listed, giving it a level, perfect or ultimate in English. The vaccine attribute and a profile, meaning that yes, Shademon Nene is also definitely a type of Digimon. And as a result, that to me means that Shademon Haraco version, I guess you could call it, also would 100% be a Digimon form, a biomege of sorts, a digi cross between human and Digimon. And they’re very clearly and obviously referencing Shademon Nene and Luminon N with this form, but they didn’t add it to the Digimon reference book quite yet. Hyuko does seem an important character. She got to go away with her Digimon partner at the end of this episode. She has a history with Makoto, and they even kind of make up at the end of the episode. It genuinely wouldn’t surprise me given that she has partnered with a shademon who is a reflection of her personality. The dark side of her, her shadow literally many eyes looking out at everyone else in jealousy trying to control people. Maybe once freed from her basically abusive father, her terrible father reunited with her mother who loved her. Maybe her Shademon will dig. Maybe we will see Hyrao show up in a future episode with a Luminon. And then her and Luminon will do the same thing she did with Shademon. And this time we’ll get a Luminon Harrao version. Could be pretty cool. Will we see a Geckomon evolution next week though? I don’t know. But I don’t think you have to worry about Geckoon dig evolving. It’s a partner Digimon. They’re going to give him at least one evolution. The rumors are that this season is 49 episodes long, which is about 20 episodes shorter than we’ve had the past couple of seasons be. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Hopefully, if they’re telling a good story, they can get it all told in one 49 episode chunk. And I think that’s great. But that still leaves us with 39 episodes for at least one evolution of Geckoon, if not all the way through to Mega for all of these partners. I wouldn’t worry too much. But that’s it for now. Let me know what your thoughts are on Knight Kiramon, the new evolution. And if you count Shademon, Haraco version as a Digimon. I do.
