No panty shots in this video 🙁
Hello everyone, it’s been a while. I am back with my most sophisticated work ever, with over 30 hours of work spent in total. Really.
Hoozuki no Reitetsu is easily the best anime in 2014 imho. It’s a very smart series that manages well to entertain on a high level, way above the usual comedy shit. It’s uniqueness and detail work are something that makes it really stand out and combined with its sharp dialogues and outstanding art it becomes the rare comedy treasure I have been missing the past years. I simply love this show – and these cute goldfish plants are just adorable. Oh-gyah!
So, since I got some free time I decided to promote the show a bit by doing a remix of this funky ending song. However, I wanted to create an appealing video as well, so after long thoughts and experimenting, this is the result 🙂
I transcribed every single instrument. The MIDI is available for more insight.
In order to get this kind of quality, I had to do a crazy amount of work and research. It was especially troublesome to get some quality with the crappy default vocaloid sound, since the recording is so bad. I ended up stacking like 20 dynamic EQs just to control the suddenly jumping out frequencies. And lots and lots of other processing, way too much for this description.
The video part was the most rage-inducing part though. I wanted to create a superb crisp and clear video with some MMD animation, which turned out to be random twerking. Yeah well, I’m really sorry for that, but it was the only motion data I found which fits to the tempo. But that’s where the problems just started to really piss me off. There was NO video codec in Vegas which could render 1080p, 320+ kbit/s audio and 60 Fps simultaneously. After long editing – especially syncing: rendering out snippets for every change, since cpu/gpu could not deliver acceptable preview – and somewhen I finally got a really good quality video.
But that was when youtube decided, to reduce the framerate to 30 FPS and reduce the bitrate from 10k to 2k, which resulted in heavy quality loss. Seriously, fuck you Youtube! Chopping off 4/5 of my original file size.
Oh, and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. You can expect irregular uploads with only the best quality. At least as much as youtube allows.
Thanks for watching!
See you around soon 🙂
