This is a short 9-minute VHS tape Shueisha released at some point during the 90s related to the manga Hareluya II BØY by Haruto Umezawa, likely prior to the manga receiving the TV anime adaptation that aired in late-night in 1997. It was part of the “Super (Secret) Video” part of the”Shonen Jump Original Video” series, though the only other one I know of was for Koji Kiriyama’s Ninku.

On this VHS there are three portions. The first is a music video for the song “Just Break Out ~Yami wo Koete~”, which is credited as being performed by Fire Guns, the in-universe band that supporting cast member Makoto Ichijo is the leader of. The second is a short interview section with mangaka Haruto Umezawa, followed by him drawing an image of main character Hareluya Hibino, which was used for the cover of this VHS tape. Finally, the third is a short commercial for Shonen Jump, using some of the original animation seen in the Fire Guns music video.

This was captured using OBS & a MiraBox HSV321 over HDMI via a Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo, which allows VHS to be viewed over HDMI & can be adjusted to display in 480p, resulting in likely cleaner (for VHS, at least) footage than if captured over composite or S-Video. Any visual “glitches” you may see are likely a consequence of the combo unit upconverting the analog signal into a digital one.
