Obviously, I don’t mean that every popular cosplayer does every single one of these actions. I’m stereotyping or generalizing here. These are just trends I’ve noticed when looking at the group at broad.

On the same note, not every popular cosplayer is dishonest or a bad influence. There are a lot of them who I greatly admire and idolize. But there are also more than a few who I personally feel like are giving the cosplay community as a whole a bad name.

Last thing I wanted to clarify is that I understand some of these mindsets from the point of a middle schooler and high schooler who was obsessed with social media. I get the immaturity behind it and how, at that age, you just don’t know better. What I don’t understand is how you can be an adult and consciously come to the conclusion that “Yes, it’s moral to lie” or “Yes, it’s ethical to do__”. In that aspect, I really don’t understand how people don’t grow out of those immature actions or have time for self reflection.

You disagree with me, feel free to comment, but please do it in a respectful manner. I will not respond to any PMs or comments written with the intention of starting drama and hate (and maybe that’s hypocritical, given the circumstances of the video, but…).

Also let me know if you’d like to see more videos like this. I’m currently debating making one on my experience at the Renaissance Faire, the Love Live! cosplay community (although I may wait until I move since these kids legit terrify me), and a video on the used cosplay community.
