You’re about to watch the latest episode of Experts React! This time, we’ve invited our favorite historians to watch and react to Omaha Beach in Call of Duty WW2. The gameplay and our historians’ comments take you back to the 1944 Allied invasion of Normandy during World War 2, which was among the largest military operations ever staged. This episode is rich in historical information and filled with exciting details about this significant moment in human history. Our historians explain the realistic, historically accurate game and its gameplay in context! Get ready for a memorable journey through WW2… one that’s sure to leave an impact on you.
The game’s campaign is set in the European theatre and is centered around a squad in the 1st Infantry Division following their battles on the Western Front and set mainly in the historical events of Operation Overlord. The player controls Ronald “Red” Daniels, who has squadmates who can supply the player with extra ammunition, health, or grenades as well as a targeted grenade and target spot.
The developers chose to include atrocities and Nazi extermination camps apparent during this time period in the campaign mode in order to deliver an authentic war story. In certain sections of the game, enemy soldiers in the campaign can be captured, and wounded allies can be dragged to cover.
On June 6, 1944, U.S. Army Private First Class Ronald “Red” Daniels (Brett Zimmerman), of the 1st Infantry Division, takes part in the Normandy landings (D-Day) with his platoon.
