The future rivalry of two characters is sneakily foreshadowed during the movie. You will notice that it is Sulley and Randall who happen to be paired against each other during the final round of the Scare Games. This is hinting at their intense rivalry when they are older, with Randall constantly trying to be a better scarer than Sulley during the events of 2001’s Monsters Inc, which leads him to being one of the main villains during the original movie’s story.
