Persona 5 Royal is finally coming to modern platforms (Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox, PS4, and PS5) with Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden following in January of 2023. Persona 5 is not only one of the most popular JRPGs in recent years, but also the most highly requested to be ported. Gamers have wanted Persona 5 Royal to come all platforms since Joker’s inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate over 3 years ago. Since then, Atlus has given us many multi-platform releases: Persona 4 Golden on Steam, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster on PS4/Nintendo Switch/Steam, Persona 5 Strikers on PS4/Switch/Steam, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax on PS4/Xbox/Switch/Steam, and most recently Soul Hackers 2 on PS4/PS5/Xbox/Steam. During the year long celebration of Persona’s 25th anniversary, it was finally announced that Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal would finally join the pantheon of games on all modern consoles/systems. In this video, I explain how *I think* we got to this point today as well as very briefly summarize of the Megami Tensei releases we’ve gotten since Joker’s inclusion in Smash Ultimate to present day. This, in my opinion, is how Persona 5 Royal broke free.
