東京コミコン2022
1970年、ゴールデン・ステート・コミック・ブック・コンベンションとしてシェル・ドルフを中心に開催されたのが原点で、漫画を中心としたポップカルチャーのイベントです。 アメリカのサンディエゴでは毎年7月上旬に開催され、漫画・アニメ・ゲーム・映画と内容も拡大され、13万人以上の来場者が集まる大イベントに発展しています。さらに、コミコンはアメリカのみならず、フランス、イギリス、台湾などでも開催され、世界中で話題となっています。マーベル・コミックスの編集長を長年務め、自ら「スパイダーマン」「アイアンマン」「X-メン」など数多くのキャラクターを生み出し、アメリカのコミックス業界に大きな変革をもたらした「ポップ・カルチャーの父」スタン・リーと、アップル共同創業者の一人で「テクノロジーの王」といわれているスティーヴ・ウォズニアックとの出会いが、「東京コミコン」の始まりです。最新のテクノロジーと最高のポップ・カルチャーを融合させたコミコンを、当初はウォズの住むシリコンバレーで開催したが、真にグローバルな祭典にしたいというウォズの意向があり、「そうであれば日本を巻き込まなければならない」と東京での開催を決定。そして、2016年12月「東京コミコン2016」として実現され、大盛況の内に幕を閉じました。

Comic Con, which combines the latest technology and the best pop culture, was initially held in Silicon Valley, where Woz lived, but Woz wanted to make it a truly global festival, and he said, “If that’s the case, Japan will be involved. I have to,” and decided to hold it in Tokyo. Then, in December 2016, it was realized as “Tokyo Comic Con 2016” and ended with great success.
