Welcome back!
This week’s upload, STORYSEEKER, is also from one of the famous “isekai” anime series, aired in Winter 2021 as well – the ending (ED) of “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2”.
As mentioned before in one of my uploads (Haru no Tonari), I have included the intro in this arrangement as well. In fact, I am quite fond of the intro of the original song as it somehow expresses a nostalgia feeling.
After finish arranging this piece, I would say that it has a very unique style of arrangement as I have utilised the left-hand accompaniment of the rhythm of the intro (bar 1 to 4), which acts as guidance throughout the piece from verse 1 to verse 2 (bar 5 to 20). With the imitation on the left-hand accompaniment, I manage to keep the soothing mood of the first half of the piece instead of making it sound catchy like the original song, particularly on the “rap” section of verse 2 (bar 12 to bar 20).
Moreover, just before the beginning of the chorus (bar 23), specifically on bar 21 and bar 22, this section between the end of verse 2 and chorus is also mainly inspired by Chopin’s “Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66”, with the transition from “Tempo comodo” to “Moderato cantabile”. The same inspiration with the same piece from Chopin is also being used on one of my previous uploads – Anata ga Ita Mori.
For the key of this piece, it is in D major with quite a fair amount of usage of its key signature. I personally like the approaching ending from the original song, therefore, in this piece of arrangement, I tried to maintain the rhythm from the original song, and I believe it turns out well, especially on bar 33 as it has a kind of majestic feeling with the usage of staccato, as well as the ending chord on the last bar (bar 35).
