It’s going to be a dangerously hot weekend in Charlotte with temperatures in the 90s and a heat index over 100 degrees! On this episode of #WakeUpCLT To Go, meteorologist Chris Mulcahy and Larry Sprinkle break down the complete weekend weather forecast for the Charlotte metro area.

Chief meteorologist Brad Panovich is encouraging everyone to be Weather Aware this weekend due to the high temperatures and heat index forecast. Dangerously hot conditions will mean you should avoid spending too much time outside during the day and remain hydrated.

Friday will be one of the warmest days of the year with high temperatures in the mid-90s. The heat index will make it feel around 102 degrees and that means it will be extremely hot for Friday’s Carolina Panthers preseason game vs. the Detroit Lions. It has the potential to be the hottest game in Panthers franchise history.

Saturday, Aug. 26, will be very hot and humid with a heat index closer to 105 degrees. There is a chance for a heat advisory in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Sunday will be a break from the extreme heat as Charlotte will see afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. The heat index will make it feel closer to 100 degrees but afternoon showers and storms should prevent the sun from baking us all day long. #WakeUpCLT #Weather #Forecast
