Golgo 13, also known as Duke Togo, is the main protagonist of the game created by Takao Saito. An assassin for hire, Golgo accepts jobs from various organizations and individuals. He is known his cold, calculating attitude, superb marksmanship skills and prowess with women. He is also ruthless, whenever he takes a job, he won’t stop until it is complete. Golgo 13’s weapon of choice is a customized M16 assault rifle. For backup, he carries a snub-nose revolver.
The name “Golgo 13” is a reference to the death of Jesus Christ. Golgo is short for Golgotha, the place of Jesus’ crucifixion, while the number 13 is considered an unlucky number. Also, Golgo 13’s logo is a skeleton wearing a crown of thorns.

Golgo has a specific set of rules for carrying out contracts: He will only speak with a client once and refuses to enter into long-term contracts.
Clients must be completely honest with him about their reasons for proposing the contract, and he will not tolerate any sort of betrayal or double-crossing. He will not accept contracts where the reasons are unclear.

The game is controlled with a lightgun shaped like a semi-automatic sniper rifle, you will assume the role of the professional assassin Golgo 13.
Unlike other similar lightgun games, this one puts a much higher emphasis on accuracy, with the player having to kill single targets with limited ammunition and/or a strict time limit. The game is also heavily story driven, with comic book style cutscenes playing between each mission.

Your career starts with a 100% accuracy rating. The objective of the chosen assignment is then displayed together with the time limit, target zone, and available ammunition. At the end of each assignment you are treated to on screen display of your performance.
For each assignment successfully completed a large sum of cash is added to your total, plus an extra sum is awarded for hitting the target zone.
If however you fail to complete the objective or the timer reaches zero, the accuracy rating is reduced and you’ll be then moved on to choose the next assignment. The game is over when the your accuracy rating reaches zero. More specific the game over screen implies that Golgo is being tortured because all of his botched contracts, because you’re, well, not reliable, and you’ll have to continue or accept a game over.

At the start of the game, 5 different assignments are available to choose from and can be completed in any order.
Once all 5 assignments have been undertaken a new round of assignments becomes available. In total there are 5 rounds each consisting of 5 assignments, more the any chapter in the series, with each round becoming progressively harder.
The are also two special stages which can only be selected after all the assignments have been completed, in the first and last round, these are marked with a “!” symboland can be considered boss fights, where Golgo 13 (you) will engage a firefight versus a skilled opponent or more. Some assignments are recycled from the previous games.

Unique to this game are also a double assignments at end of the first and third round, one of them is about a group of killers will try to kill Golgo 13, setting landmines in the first place, then Duke will counterattack in a closed range combat and the other one is about force a private plane to land and then kill the passenger.

This game is swan song of the series to me, with the most complete action package and more engaging missions them all.
