Hello everyone,
Here’s my cover of the ending song from Shadows House, Nainai by ReoNa.
It caught my attention right away when I first heard it.
The unconventional dissonant introduction sets up the eerie mood of the song very well. Though if I only played the detached chords, it would sound rather dry on the piano, and so I added bell-like high octaves in F to give a better sustain.
The A-melody up to the chorus is faithful to the original song, though I simplified the different voicings if it’s too awkward to play on the piano.
This song also reminds me of a piece of classical music – Hungarian Dance No. 1 by Brahms. The beginning of the theme is exactly the same as this song (dotted 5 – 4 – dotted 5 – 4). I have thought of including the theme from the Hungarian Dance into this arrangement, but it being a six-bar phrase made it quite awkward to do so. I ended up using some ideas from the orchestral reduction instead.
I haven’t watched Shadows House yet, but it seems quite interesting.
