Hideaki Anno’s longstanding saga has recently passed the 25 year mark. Neon Genesis Evangelion is arguably the most single influential show released in Japan in the last 30 years. It has inspired countless directors to show the psychology and inner turmoil of their characters in a way that few had done before. Whether or not you agree with the show’s storytelling methods, no one can doubt that it was a masterpiece of animation and film editing.

Now, this August, the final film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series, Evangelion 3.0+1.01 – Thrice Upon a Time (シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版:𝄂), will be released to the world after a nearly decade long wait, concluding both the film saga, as well as wrapping up the legacy and influence of the original series lore. The longstanding tale of studio Khara and Gainax will reach its end.
