Super Animator: You Yoshinari (吉成曜)

You is an animation genius, he can do amazingly well done sequences of any kind of animation.
Character Acting, Animals, Combat Sequences, Mechanical Animation, Giant Objects Rotation Animation, Effects Animation, all this added to the fact that it has an amazing speed to draw, finishing in hours what others would take days or weeks and still not go down level.

His animation at the beginning was very inspired by the Kanada school, but little by little he changed and combined aspects of other animators that he admired. The movement of his characters at the beginning of his career was very precise and generated movements with marked angular poses that gave him a certain distinction, seeming a combination of the Kanada style and that of Masami Oobari. Tsurumaki was in charge of training him so that his animation would be much more spectacular.
Currently the movement of his animation feels much smoother, the general shapes are round, the movement tends to be circular and it presents some simulation of the weight in the characters, which is probably due to his participation in Jin-Rou by Hiroyuki Okura.

He implements many very complicated camera rotations and movements, having an amazing handling of perspective and three-dimensionality of objects, as well as perfectly animating the backgrounds to result in an ensemble that converges in exceptional work. He also seems to have a knack for visualizing characters in space, as he can portray said characters from any angle he wants.

Not to mention that his effects can be truly sophisticated; Explosions and smoke with impressive volume and organic movement, debris with very particular shapes, fire and water with a unique style, etc.

Why did I write “You” instead of “Yoh”?
The correct translation is Yō, which becomes You, since ō adds a “u” (う) to the end.
“Yoh” is a bad translation and nonsense. The same applies to many other animator or series names, for example: Masami Oobari, Ryou Oonishi, Kou Yoshinari, Yabuki Kentarou, Katsuhiro Ootomo, Jin-Rou, Dangaiou, etc.

What is Sakuga?
Sakuga (作画) literally means drawing.
It is not something specific like “super spectacular animation”, but the term is used to define a well animated sequence and that’s it, good animation.
Animation is fundamentally movement, so a sequence with good movement is already good animation / sakuga, the effects and uses of cinematography are only added to the base.
