Onihei Episode 1 was definitely tense and gritty, on ede and off-beat…but in a way that was both enthralling and engaging! So many different elements of genuine artistry are meshing together and it’s that very push and pull that will have some in love with it’s potential mastery and others disinterested and putoff. Personally I really loved this first episode. From the stellar OST to the heavy and poignant stylization and art, there were so many aspects that had me on the edge of my seat. While it’s definitely not perfect, as both a fictional period piece and as a dramatic narrative I think this series has a great deal of potential and I’m excited to see how it develops. LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE HEIZO SAVAGERY IN ONIHEI EPISODE 2! Hopefully we see more of Kumehachi as well because I really love his character.
